End of the beginning... another looms

Ugly !! that is all I can say about a morning when I couldn't sleep past 5am.  Now don't get me wrong, I am not a late sleeper by any stretch, but normally my rise time is about 6:30.  Don't know for the life of me what possessed me to wake up that early !!!
Coffee happened about 6am and after two and a half hours of that, I decided to hit the Senior Center for the meal delivery routine...  I only have 12 clients today, but the total mileage only dropped about .5 miles.  Tori is trying to level out the playing field a little.
Leann, thanks for the email and it's nice to see you back in the groove.  Lord, I've been writing a lot lately... Omar learned a new word..
Cathy, beautiful email, I appreciate your thoughts and it was my intent to try to lift you up and encourage you.  You deserve to search for the best and settle for nothing but that.  Don't look back, let that dust settle.
Look into the mirror and realize that the Lady who peers back at you is your best friend... you need to take her on a very nice journey and introduce her to the joy of a life fulfilled.  All things will come if you keep your eyes on the prize.  I have great faith in you.
The nicest compliment I could ever give you would be to call you my friend... you are that.
This morning after delivering meals, I came home and sprayed the vegetation in hopes of bringing about the early demise of the encroaching weeds.  I am not sure if it is a wasted effort or not, I do know it would be more effective if my neighbors did it too.
The thought of Chinese food seems to be lurking in the muddled depths of my mind so I may have that for dinner (at Sum Yan).  Too bad you are in Corvallis Leann, I would invite you to join me.  You do like Chinese don't you???  Perhaps another time, maybe next time you visit your brother. (friends do that ya know).
Well, the sky is clouding up a bit and that probably means the humidity will increase and that, my friends, will NOT tickle my fancy.
See ya on the flip side...

The "Green green Grass of Home"

I decided today that it was time to address the Dandylions and the other crawly vines that inhabit some of my "Oasis of Love".  Off to 'Green Thumb' with a handful of the encroaching villains.
I don't know what to call them that wouldn't offend my audience so "weeds" will have to suffice for now.  I showed the owner of 'Green Thumb' and of course he knew them personally and showed me the product that would eventually lead to their demise and, my happiness.
One specially for the Dandylions and of course, yet another for the crawly sticky thingys that live by the chain link fence and under the rhodies.  They're impending doom puts a smile on my face.
Lastly, he looked at the branch I brought in from the dogwood tree... I told him it was a virus and he, in his infinite wisdom, corrected me and told me it was 'Moss'.  No problem says me... and of course, yet another product (tree fertilizer) gets added to my skyrocketing list of demolition powders.
From there, I beat the camel's ass to WalMart where I managed to drop another substantial amount of coin on a short hose, a impulse sprinkler and some commercial grade shears for grass.
Once back at the tent, I placed the sprinkler, connected the hose and ran it over to the control valve.  I decided to try it out, and set it to manual and lo and behold that particular valve didn't survive the nearly never ending Winter...
Off goes me to Bi-Mart to see if they still carry the valve... luck would have it, yes and yet a mere $15 bucks.  Does it never end???  Back home, replace the valve and tried again... Dammit, batteries dying in the control unit... Lucky me, I have 3 new ones left.
Got it all up and going and the new sprinkler adjusted so now all I have to do is wait for what I know will be a water bill of Galactic proportion... which will lead to a bigger gas bill as I will have to mow more often...
Life is Grand.

Pssssssst...

Quiet.  Nothing special is happening today... But, Cathy is leaving for her home in Alabama.
I see loneliness in her eyes, it is a sadness that comes on the evening wind when the day is done and the night is approaching.  When it becomes so very quiet and the air settles and nothing moves.  It creeps into our souls and takes a grip on our heart.
Those are the moments of reflection, the times we question why and how did we end up here, alone and in the dark.  It was never the plan, not the direction we would choose, but the ultimate end of our dream.  Cathy, you don't walk alone... know that.
It is the Sunny days with whispy clouds and a light breeze that give us cause to appreciate life and search for the missing happiness.  I love the Sunlight and blue skies of Summer.  Each day changes happen, some good and others maybe not so good.  Luckily, as time goes on, more good ones seem to surface and we dig a deeper hole to bury the ones that are not so good.
Connections, that is what we wish for, but as we mature in age, they are more difficult to form because we look at others thru calloused eyes and a fog of critical judgement and the pain that we've suffered whether by others or self inflicted.  God is my salve and salvation and as my daughter said last Sunday at her church..., he never turns away or leaves us alone.
Wow.  That is totally deep enough of a thought pattern for now.  Back to things of happiness and joy.  8 days and I leave for Ca.  I hope my sister has plenty for me to do as I dislike just setting around with nothing to occupy myself.  I love working around the home.

Oregon Gloom... Gray skies today

Well things are basically back to normal, Omar swept out the tent and the residuals of his efforts lie everywhere.
Sister and her hubby are safely home now and tending to a slightly neglected yard, but at it's worst, it looks better than mine.
Cathy will be flying back to Alabama tomorrow and returning to her new life.  I am so happy for her and her new found freedom.  Oppression in marriage is a terrible thing to endure so I am pleased that she made the break.
We discussed the possibility that I may fly back there someday and we might attend the Talladega race together.  Time will tell.  Hi Cathy.
Leann is absent, although she said on her blog that she would have her computer with her, she's not yet posted so my assumption (and I hope I'm right) is that she is having a good time.
Laundry is the job of the day and perhaps mowing the yards if I get ambitious enough... we will see how the day goes.
I wish you all  the best.. continue the quest.

Well, Lollie and Gareth are on the plane headed back to El Dorado Hills, and I shall follow them after a short delay of a week and a half.

The visit was great, they enjoyed the time with Melissa and we had some good gaming here in the tent with the WII system.  I really like the Mario Kart game, but Gareth and Lollie and I all like Super Mario 64 which is what we played most of the time...

We did celebrate Cecil's birthday and took him to Moma Linda's and we had an excellent dinner there.

Saturday, as posted before was all about Melissa and graduation and Sunday, we went to the Presbyterian church as Melissa was speaking there.  A great time was had by all.

I got home just a few minutes ago from taking them back to PDX so they could catch their flight.  Truth be known, I am like totally bushed now.

On a lighter note... Leann- have ya whupped the cold yet?? or are you still in throws of totally miserableness... Neat word eh??  Sometimes lady I wonder about me.

To all who've read... thanks those who missed it... too bad.

Cathy T.  Wanted to say thank you for what you wrote in your email and I agree with you.  We all have a road to walk and it's not always paved.  You are doing very well and you look great too.

No promises, but I will surely work on Talladega.  JR. WON !!!!!!!!! OMG !!!!!!!
Life is good now.  Only thing better would be a platter of 'Fried Green Maters'.

See ya later and I hope your flight was good too.

A Missing moment

No post for yesterday... too many things going on what with Melissa graduating from WOU plus setting up (In my case, helping) The things at Julie and Greg's home for the impending party.

The graduation went nicely, and once the commencement speakers finished talking and they started processing the awardees, it truly did fly right on by and the good Lord provided a most beautiful day for the event.

After the ceremonies, Lollie and Gareth and I stopped and had lunch at J's restaurant in Monmouth... good food and nice people and the prices won't bankrupt you.

We got back to Lebanon about 4pm and by 4:30 I was over at Julies place, accompanied by Lollie, my sister.  We got things going and I set up the Oscar on a post that we drove into the ground as a landmark for those coming.  Lollie got the tables decorated and the whole affair went quite well.

At about 8:30 we decided to shag and come home and let Melissa and her friends continue the partying in our absence.

Melissa took me to lunch today to a neat bar in Albany.  Lollie and Gareth and Cathy were with us.  I ordered a $18 dollar steak dinner (Melissa insisted as it was her Fathers Day gift to me).  We had a great time and then I dropped her and Cathy off and Gareth and Lollie and I came home.

I got a call from Nick, then he had to go to the store and was going to call me back when he got home but that didn't happen... Nothing at all from Sean though...  He used to call more often.

A "Beautiful" Friday the 13th...

Hard to believe, that today, what with the vexing date, has provided us with such wonderful weather... Absolutely beautiful blue sky and perfect temperatures.

I was up early and had my coffee at McDonalds and after that, went to the Senior center to do my normal Friday deliveries of meals.  Today, I had 19 clients...  Tori said she is going to balance the routes better so we will see what it will drop to for mine.

Got home about 11:30.  Gareth and Lollie were barely up.  We messed around and had some breakfast and then about 1:45 Gareth and I took both pickups to the Presbyterian church to get what I had assumed would be cumbersome and very clumsy to move...

Lo and behold, the tables easily could be handled by a woman and I only would have needed my Toyota.  We delivered them to Greg and Julies place and He was there and said for us to unload them to the patio area which we did.  I asked Greg if he needed any further help and he said it was being handled fine now.

Gareth, Lollie and I will be taking Cecil and Margaret out to dinner tonight as a belated celebration of his 89th birthday.

Leann... Whence hath thee gone??

Enough for now...

Beautiful 'Sunshine' and nice temps...

I woke up early, I mean really early this morning, 5am... looked at the clock and decided that I truly have arrived at the beginning stages of Dementia... quickly jumped back into bed and managed to sleep till about 7:30.
Got up and dressed then headed down to McDonalds for my morning fix of caffeine.  The usual cronies were present and in fine form.  I met a lady who's hair is all the way down to mid-calf and is an author of rhyming cookbooks and other written poems.
The things that I found fascinating about her are firstly, she is a Pagan witch, plus she is a very attractive lady and even more striking to me was how open and outgoing she is.  Very self assured and optimistic about life... I appreciate that in a person.
It's 10:40 and Lollie and Gareth are still in their room and asleep.  Lord, I wish I had the capability to sleep that long but I just cannot do it.
Leann is in Eastern Oregon and sent some pretty nice pictures to her Blog... the Three Sisters are particularly nice looking... Good job Leann.. hope you're having a wonderful time.
Cathy... finally you get some warm nice weather.  Does it help??  I know it makes me feel much better when I can see blue sky.  There are some white clouds but none of the dark rain bearing ones... Thank you Lord, for that.

No "Nasties" today... I promise

Yesterday was my turn to vent about the "Gas" situation... glad that's over now.
I had a good trip to Portland to pick up bro and Sis for my daughters impending graduation on Saturday at WOU.  I am totally proud of her accomplishments.
We stopped at Ixatapa for dinner when we got back to Lebanon... my daughter called while we were there and I invited her to come join us for dinner.
We had a great visit there and I picked up the tab which my bro in law argued with me about but subsequently lost... (they buy for me a lot).
We all went to my home for a long overdue and extended visit.  Melissa left a little past 11pm to go back to Corvallis.  Lollie and Gareth and I stayed up till about 12:30 then I went to bed.
Cathy, thanks for the 'Southern folks' info... I really got a chuckle out of them.

Rape at the pump...

So, my dear fellow Americans... how does it feel, getting totally screwed at the service station without the benefit of the warm close feeling??

Finally, here on the good old home turf we are feeling what the Eurpoeans and Asians have felt for many years... Big Oil getting in our britches...

Ya know what the Saudis and the Venezuelans are paying for Oil??? No idea huh... Well about a quarter a gallon or so... You know why?? cause their Governments subsidies their oil... it is a government sponsored benefit provided to the people. I cannot apologize for writing this, no more than I can make excuses for the way our Government treats us. Money should NOT be the deciding factor but for the fat cats in W.D.C that, my friends is the bottom line.

Chinese venue and menu

Cathy and I decided that the Sum Yan restaurant would suffice for our lunch.  It is a great place to eat and the price was pretty reasonable for the Special lunch $4.50 per.
We had a great conversation, she catching me up on the details of her divorce from her husband of 30 years and of course news of the children and their children.
She is a nice lady, now, with direction in her life and the freedom to pursue it, she seems so very much happier, her BP is way down and she is off all her meds... amazing what Stress can do to reduce your quality of life.
ͤͤSo, Leann... a interlude perhaps?? perhaps an emotional 'testing of the water' or could in fact it be a family calling... Whatever the case, Have a Great time.

Domestically Challenged...

Well, today I did some deep cleaning of the main bathroom (SouthEast corner of the tent) and noticed that some of the cleaners that I use have this uncanny ability to take my breath away... literally !!

I spray, leave for a bit then come back and remove the debri and residue.  Need to keep the flap open though as the odors are concentrated.  Anyway, I figure to do the bowl this afternoon as I shall pay particular attention to it.

My Sister, God love her, has the unique ability to spot any areas that I might, in my elderly and somewhat decrepit state, manage to overlook.  So this time, I shall view all cleanings with a microscopic eye.  I will pass inspection this time.

If Omar would take off his gloves, we wouldn't have so much lint on everything.

I will leave in less than an hour to take Cathy, Julie's best friend, out to lunch as Julie has to work all day today.

 Apple does it again 

My Company of Choice

Gracious me how could anyone NOT like Apple??  Innovative company that produces hardware and software that actually makes you smile to use...

Don't have to install all kinds of virus blockers, worms and God only knows what else...

Programs that work right out of the box, no configuration files and numerous error screens and thank God no Internet Explorer to deal with.

Am I an Apple fanatic???  Damn right.  I worked with and supported the PC community for well over 20 years and I attribute all of my grey hair to that. (mostly).

I love my 20" iMac and will soon order a brand new 24" iMac just because I love them so much.  I think maybe I will buy the new 3G iPhone also... I can get the 16 gig model for $100 less than I paid for the 8 gig one I have now...

You think I am crazy?  Maybe so, but I don't have a woman to spend money on so why not indulge myself with something that is Double Darn guaranteed to give me satisfaction.

Wow, I am so totally stoked about the new stuff I can hardly sit here without wetting my pants.  Opppps, (ha !! gotcha).

Anyway, to each his/her own and with that said, my greatest compassion for you PC types out there.  If any of you want to switch, I will have my 20" iMac for sale when the new one gets here..

10. (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 6 (f) 1

Now add up the total number of points.

OVER 60 POINTS : Others see you as someone they
should "handle with care."
You're seen as vain, self-centered, and who is
extremely dominant.. Others
may admire you, wishing they could be more like you,
but don't always trust
you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with
you.

51 TO 60 POINTS: Others see you as an exciting,
highly volatile, rather
impulsive personality; a natural leader, who's quick
to make decisions,
though not always the right ones. They see you as
bold and adventuresome,
someone who will try anything once; someone who
takes chances and enjoys an
adventure. They enjoy being in your company because
of the excitement! your
radiate.

41 TO 50 POINTS: Others see you as fresh, lively,
charming, amusing,
practical, and always interesting; someone who's
constantly in the center of
attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let
it go to their head.
They also see you as kind, considerate, and
understanding; someone who'll
always cheer them up and help them out.

31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible,
cautious, careful &
practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or
talented, but modest. Not a
person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but
someone who's extremely
loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same
loyalty in return.
Those who really get to know you realize it takes a
lot to shake your trust
In your friends, but equally that it takes you u a
long time to get over if
that trust is ever broken.

21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as
painstaking and fussy. They see
you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and
steady plodder. It
would! really surprise them if you ever did
something impulsively or on the
spur of the moment, expecting you to examine
everything carefully from every
angle and then, usually decide against it. They
think this reaction is
caused partly by your careful nature.

UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy,
nervous, and indecisive,
someone who needs looking after, who always wants
someone else to make the
decisions & who doesn't want to get involved with
anyone or anything! They
see you as a worrier who always sees problems that
don't exist. So me people
think you're boring. Only those who know you well
know that you aren't.

•• Beautiful Sunny Sunday

Wow, I had forgotten just how nice the blue sky looked. It won't be exceptionally warm today, but the weather would certainly be adequate for some long overdue yard work or perhaps washing of a vehicle or two. I don't have that to do, as I already did it yesterday with the exception of washing my pickup. That, I may do today. If you are reading or keeping up with my Blog, here is a link to my most recent CraigsList personal ad. Simple and to the point.
As I read all the personal ads in the 'Women Seeking Men', it strikes me that they all seem to have the same flavor.  They are all looking for the same type of guy, they all seem to value the same characteristics in a mate and they all seem to love their family and friends and love to laugh and are tired of the 'bar' scene.
Very little originality exists in these posts.  Sadly, when you reply to many of them, they narrow down the parameters that they deem acceptable.
Tends to remind me of the folks who use cookie cutters to qualify christians.. if you don't fit their particular design, then you don't qualify.
My ad states simply that "There's more to the book than the Cover" and I think that philosophy should be used by all who seek a relationship... NO Exceptions.
Enough of that crap... Go forth Knights and Maidens and enjoy the bountiful harvest of good weather and better friends.

The "Rain" parade...

Ohhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

Yep, 'pissed off' is just about how I would feel if I had to be in the parade and walk from Walmart all the way up to Rose street in the cold damp weather...

I've been to every Strawberry Parade since 1995 and out of all of them, only one year, 2006 had really perfect weather.

Mostly I feel for the little kids, the fat cats in the cars have it made, but imagine being a little kid walking all that way.

Melissa was a Strawberry princess her senior year at LHS so that was a special year but now I really don't have the inclination to sit down there in the rain and watch the parade... plus the firetrucks scare me *laughing*...

On a lesser note, Leann, have you ever tried meditation as a method of relaxing before you crash out???  I used to do that, but I had the added help of being in a chemically altered state... *whew*  glad those days are a distant memory.  Thanks VietNam.

Dammit I hate having to backtrack and admit I was wrong but as usual, that Phreaking weather person lied... It didn't rain, but it for sure wasn't altogether too warm either.

Weird #@$t you can do...

A fine example of what I like to do... Things come and things go...
I should imagine that these types of goodies can and are often used but I didn't know if it would work here on my blog... nice to see it does.

Phreaky Phriday Has Cometh Again...

What can anyone say about today except 'ahem', rain, rain, go away...
I had coffee this morning at McDonalds as usual and then went to deliver the meals to my clients who I have no doubt would starve without intervention.
I had 18 deliveries today and it was damp and wet and dreary but I approached each of them with a smile on my face and a song in my heart.
These folks don't get out too much so if I can in some small way, bring cheer into their lives, I try to do so.
Leann, I almost sent you an email correcting your spelling until I realized, thankfully, that it was in a joking manner that you spelled it that way.  I am, if allowed, very proud to see you pursue a degree.
Hopefully that will allow you to move up the working class ladder and pursue even greater goals.  You deserve success and I am certain you will find it.

Woof Woof is here..

My good buddy and best friend Ralphy... I picked him up this morning about 6:30am.  From there, we stopped in at MacDonalds so I could get some coffee and he could garner all the pats on the head any dog could ask for.
Being the aristocratic gentleman that he is, he endears himself to everyone who sees him.  I must admit that he has a very charismatic personality and is not a 'licker' or a 'barker' so those characteristics are appreciated by the folks he is around.
Weather today, as in the past week really is pretty 'sucky'.  Hopefully at sometime Summer will descend upon us and will be openly welcomed too.
Too bad cats are not as well mannered. (Ok, most cats).  Leann, I knew you were lurking out there and unless I clarified that 'Cat' statement you would have pounced on me.  Your Tabby looks pretty kool though.

Hump day here and gone..

Wednesday, typically known as 'hump day' in the work force is once again upon us.  I would like it to be a nice warm sunny day, but it appears that it has it's own agenda and sunshine and warmth are not included.

I stopped at Roth's and did some shopping today for a 'Breakfast for Dinner' thing tonight.  I am seriously looking forward to some Jimmy Dean Sausage (hot) and perhaps some scrambled eggs and a couple pieces of whole wheat toast.  I don't cook often, but I will tonight as I don't have any friends that invite me to dinner *hint*.

Tomorrow, I will pick up Ralphy for a visit, Julie called yesterday afternoon to let me know that Ralphy passed his physical with flying colors and he weighs 77.5 lbs which is perfect
 for his frame.

Well Obama has it in the bag for the Demopubilcans so now the big question remains who he will tap for the VP slot.  Hillary would be a smart choice, but I along with many others believe there is way too much animosity between Barack and Michele and Hillary to get them all in the same bed together.  I think it would be an awesome ticket.

Males and 'Little boys'...

Morning Leann, I just finished reading your Blog and the mixed feelings you seem to demonstrate as related to your 2nd Ex.  Being overly curious, I also read the comments that were made in reference to your post.
Without the intention of being judgmental, I can put very little credence in Brad's post as I sense a little insecurity in him and possibly a little bit of femininity also which I am in no way belittling him for, just pointing it out.
As a fire breathing testosterone pumped type male (who also has feelings), I can tell you that men, in general, will hang on if there is ANY perceived chance that we can rekindle a relationship... this is basically to maintain the physical aspect of the relationship as opposed to the mental one.
Glen seemed to have a much better grasp on the workings of the typical male mind and I would be very inclined to agree with his assessment.
The bottom line is this Leann, the sharper the knife, the cleaner the cut and the easier the healing process.  Lingering thoughts of rekindling are extremely misleading and often cruel too.
Cut him loose and make it permanent... Move on girl.

Doldrums..."Gray" and damp...

There are few things that actually are capable of bringing me down emotionally... One that can and sometimes (not always) does, is a continuous flow of Gray, overcast and rainy days.  Much to be said for Vitamin D the "sunshine vitamin".

Luckily, I have things within the confines of my tent that can and do keep me occupied, but there is nothing more invigorating than a sun filled day with wispy clouds and a light breeze.  I know it's coming the question, of course, is when...

Leann... did you check to see if you have a pulse?? *grin*... WoW, that is quite a nap you took.  Fact is though, you are probably somewhat sleep deprived and the old body just decided to collect the debt.

We are, actually by design, a daylight animal.  I know many don't work days, but they all suffer from some deprivation because of the off hours they work.

Hope you got the gift bought and the directions obtained... Oh Yeah, and liked the rose bud...

Later people, Omar needs help...

And to think... it started out pretty

Here it is Monday yet again.  This morning at 6:15 it was very pretty, just a couple little whispy clouds in a otherwise blue sky and the temp was a shade on the brisk side.  My kind of day.
After coffee I headed down to Meals on Wheels for my deliveries and the day still looked pretty darn good.  By the time I finished and got home, 11:30 or so, the sky had already started to become more densely overcast and the temp had dropped several degrees.
Now the forecast is for rain this afternoon and the next couple of days too.  Looks to be a pretty short Summer.
I visited with Cecil and Margaret for a bit and sharpened a couple of knives for them.. (they will dull them up pretty quickly though).  I am getting more proficient with my sharpening kit and that makes me feel good.  I can put an edge on a knife that is better than new.
My friend Leann must (hopefully) be off today.. I wish the weather were better for her as she is a total outdoor lady... (aren't ya Leann??).
Well, off to see what the day will produce...

Jr. nation marches on and retains 3rd

Good Lord !!! When will Kyle Busch lose???  I am certainly not a Busch fan by any means, but I have to give the Devil his due.  That kid can drive.

Sadly, Dale Jr., once again, gets caught up in a early race altercation that he had absolutely nothing to do with... As a matter of fact, had Bobbie Labonte not run into the back of Jr., he likely would have come thru the melee unscathed.

As it was, he and others were relegated to the garage area for repairs, went down 10 laps and never was able to overcome the problems.  Great news is that he was able to stay 3rd in the points but added over a hundred to the distance between he and current leader Kyle Busch.

He will be back next weekend and I will root for him with all I have.  I really want to see him win.

Ad rem Continuium

Hmmm, I am not certain what that heading might mean to you, but coming from me it really meant "and more of the same".  Maybe a Wiki entry is in order...
Got all the inside housework accomplished and did a couple loads of laundry.
I don't mind doing laundry and believe it or not, I haven't used my dishwasher for better than 6 months.  I really like doing dishes by hand.  Of course, there is only me so it's not like a monumental chore... Know that feeling Leann??  (what were the magazines?)
I am just about ready to hit Walmart and maybe even Bi-Mart.  Not sure.  I am also thinking about what I might want for dinner.  Nothing here to cook so maybe I will take myself out to dinner.
My Sister is suffering thru an allergy/virus thing that produces sewage in the bronchial passages in her throat.  I hope that the medicine she is taking will clear that up.

A period of 'doldrums' soon to pass

Nothing particularly seems to appeal to me today, even though I have numerous things to do.  Perhaps if the Sun makes an appearance I will liven up.
Funny, sometimes just a blue sky can lift you beyond where you are.  I very rarely ever am down in spirit, but today I just don't have the umph to get it going.
I will do some cleaning inside today as I did most all the outside things yesterday under the umbrella of a beautiful blue sky and moderate temperatures.
I should make a trip to Walmart and buy a decent mop and some TP.  Also I should go to Bi-Mart and check their tomatoes out.  I want to plant 2 of them in the front under the tent flap window.  Enough for now, perhaps I will add more later... maybe not either.

Either fewer Fridays or space em out more

I have a perplexing problem here... I live in a 'time warp'.  Oh I know, you don't believe it, but you will soon find out.
Ok, I did the math, 365 days in a normal year, 12 months too.  52 weeks and each week has a Friday... right??  Ok then someone please explain to me how my Fridays are only separated by 3 days.
I know it sounds weird but I'm tellin ya.  I start my week on Monday and the very next thing I know here it is Friday again.  This seems to be happening all together more often as I peek at life from further down the Calendar.  Anyone else understand the feeling??
It's not like I have a lot to do or anything and I am seriously beginning to wonder if that isn't part of the problem.
Well, it seems that way to me anyway.  Got both lawns mowed.... what a stunning day it is today.  Maybe I should go take in a movie tonight.. any suggestions on what to see???  What kind are your favorites?  I like most all of them although I don't lean too heavily to the girly ones.
My recent venture into the Insurance swapping fiasco proved to be beneficial to me so AIG is a memory and Sublimity is a reality.
Not too sure what the rest of the day holds but of course, there's always "Friday night Smackdown".
Leann... I liked the picture of the vulture.  You think they act like animals at feeding time.. I used to clean houses on contract and you know whose were hands down the filthiest... Doctors and Nurses...  Please, that isn't a blanket condemnation, just a simple fact.  I'm sure there are plenty more professionals that don't take personal cleanliness to heart.
Hope you have something good planned for your weekend (something Juicy and fun and that tickles ya !!!).

The Last Hurrrah...Curtain Closing

Great play... we had dinner at J's, both of us enjoyed a Cobb Salad.  She had water to drink and I forced myself to have a pounder of Bud.  (The things a Dad won't do).
About 10 of 7, we headed over to the campus theatre and Melissa introduced me to the director, Ted and we chatted a little bit.  I looked at all the advertisement boards that Melissa designed and put up then inside the theatre, all the stage stuff that she helped put together.
As the play got underway (it was odd, in that the play is somewhat dynamic in that it changes a little each performance).  Melissa actually directed several of the scenes and they were very good.  It is a comedy and sort of a parody of the "3 Muskateers".
Her book, that she put together documenting everything she has done for the past year regarding the play is every bit of 3" thick... tons of typing and compiling of information and historical facts... tremendous amount of work and she is entering it in a competition too.  Which could, thru process of elimination, end up with her winning the National championship and being in WDC.  I hope she gets it.
The play ended about 9:15pm and we said so long as she had work to do back stage and I headed back to Lebanon... Nice evening.

Broadway in Monmouth

Well I am a lucky dad !!!!!, I get to take my daughter, Melissa, out to dinner at J's restaurant in Monmouth and after dinner, attend the play that she has so diligently worked on as part of her Theatre degree requirements. Her title is a "Dramaturg" and she is very knowledgeable about theater history and actually quite well spoken of in the theater industry at not only Monmouth, but also at the Broadway Theatre she worked at as an intern in NYC this past Summer. She is very talented and extremely dedicated to her trade.  She directed 4 scenes in the play. Whatever school she decides to teach at will be lucky to have her. She follows in her mothers footsteps in that she is entering the education field... primarily she wants to teach theater but also will be degreed in English Composition or it might be Literature  (I think). The play will be good and I'm sure she will be happy that it is finally over as it's taken the majority of her free time. Her dedication is to be envied. She makes both her mother and I quite proud.

Some new Toys...

I've created a couple of new Blogs for your viewing pleasure... one is a 'Food' blog that will have recipes on it plus you can add to it if you have some family secret recipes you want to share or some tidbits you've found. The other is a Blog that will hopefully become a repository for fixit hints on all kinds of subjects.. I started it with a half dozen categories but it will grow and all your suggestions, cures, hints and ramblings will be appreciated...

Damn... I love a good deal

Talked to Don and wouldn't you know it, he was able to save me over $100 bucks a year on the combined insurance for Melissa and I.
When I originally switched to AIG, they beat Rhodes Warden but now, things have changed and I get a better deal by going back to where I started.
Like I told Don, I (and any of you) owe no sense of loyalty to an Insurance company.  They will gladly accept your monthly premium payments till the day you die... if you NEVER ever make a claim you still pay the same..
But, that said, if you do happen to find yourself in the position to have to make a claim and by some chance it is substantial... hang on, you could easily find your premiums increased or as happened to me with Prudential, CANCELLED.
They are really only your friends whilst things are nice and quiet and you don't NEED to use their services...  Now, that said, I will admit that not ALL insurance companies are created equal and some will actually stick by you in times of adversity.  But the truth is this:  More don't, than do.
It is horrible to know that the LAW is what requires you to carry it... period.
No rain yet, but I gotta say, it's missing a helluva good opportunity.

New guy in towne

If you look just below the heading of this Blog, you will see a link that will take you to the other Blog that will primarily deal with recipes and food ideas. ••• disclaimer ••• (I own NONE of these recipes.) They came from sources such as "Food" network or other sites...

The Hungry are Fed...

Monday the center for feeding the elderly and lame was closed. Today I stood in for Gene and had 18 clients. The obvious lack of comments portends the early demise of this blog. Those who flaunt friendship and deliver nothing as an example really torq me off. You want friendship... offer something worth salvaging. You know who this applies to, I don't have to assign a name. It is cloudy and a little cool today and the forecast is not promising either. Lollie and Gareth should be headed back to EDH sometime today. I am sure that they will find many things needing their attention once they arrive home. Tomorrow, I will stop and talk to Don and see how well he can attack the overcharges by a certain Insurance Co. Perhaps a change is in the air.

Horrors... Saw IV I shall see...

I've rented Saw IV. The last in the series of disturbing horror shows.. I've seen all the earlier ones and my demented side enjoyed them all. But, fear not, I can just as easily cry watching a good old tear jerker... The Humanity of it all. Hopefully those of you who visit here are having a good day. Mine is, uneventful so the TV is getting some long neglected usage. Chicken wings and Potato salad will comprise the menu this afternoon and likely nothing tonight. I await your invitation to come for dinner...

The Hill was too high...

Another attempt at happiness has fizzled out and failed to come to fruitation. Odd, isn't it that as we mature, we become less appealing. I would never had thought it would be like this. Of course, had I been able to save my last relationship I wouldn't be in this situation at all... Hindsight is something we should have access to before we need it. I've posted again, on CL, with the hopes that some poor unsuspecting Lady will respond. I don't believe that my expectations are at all unreasonable. I simply don't want to spend the rest of my life alone. I am capable of love and respect and mutual honesty... Perhaps I need an agent!! Or, maybe a complete makeover with an instant rewind on the Calendar... That would produce some interesting results I'm sure. No problem my children, I am on yet another Quest and I've polished up the Sword and tightened the scabbard. My trusty steed awaits and the supple saddle lies empty awaiting my pompous ass's arrival... Hail to the King and may the Queen rule forever... Tada :-)

It's over and beginning again...

Life throws a mean curve ball sometimes.  I remember when I was younger and my Dad used to tell me that just when I had all the answers to lifes questions, they would change all the questions... It is so very true.  We wander around this planet in search of success and happiness and we taste from many different wells in that quest.
Years ago, the bucket would reach the water easily as the well was very full and the water very fresh... Now I find that there is barely enough rope on the crank to allow the bucket to reach the water and if it does reach, then the water is no longer fresh, but rather stagnant with age.
I've almost decided to walk the rest of the way home alone, consoling myself with the thoughts of many wonderful memories formed over the years over numerous relationships.  I have friends and I thank God for them but in the end, it is me and God who traverse this road.
This is not a bad place to be, there are many who have so much less and yet travel on they do.  I am certainly no less than they and I go forth with head held high and expectations yet unrealized.

Every day is a new challenge with it's own disappointments and it's own opportunities.  I continually seek the pearl in the oyster of life. In my life, there are no "Half empty glasses"...
To those of you who may read this, cement your happiness in life by being dedicated to the prize.  Never lose sight of the reason you began the search.  Happiness is something you create regardless of where you are.  Never depend on another for your happiness, depend on yourself to provide happiness.
Never give up hope, and always show appreciation to those who are kind to you and those you value.  Friendship is a priceless commodity not to be carelessly squandered or taken for granted.  Rather it is like a valued plant, something you continually nurture and water and care for...
Enough of this, the cauldron runs dry for this issue... Take care and God bless.

Green Saturdays are good...

After having some coffee at the local Mcdonald's this morning, I sojourned back home and had a muffin and washed it down with my typical morning treat, some hot chocolate... stuff is habit forming for sure.
Lazed around most of the morning then decided I would mow the yards as it's managed to stay dry.  Got that done and pulled a slew of weeds from around the tent.
Surprised how nice it looks with the sand all raked and the camel droppings piled in the corner. (make good generic bowling balls).
Leann, I sent you the map... No, the real one.  Anyway now you at least know what is on the East side of I-5 now.
Hey, I didn't know you were ## (numbers hidden.. gentlemen don't tell) , I would have thought about 35.  Anyway, sure has been a slowdown in the emails lately... Maybe I need to post another thought provoking item on CL.  You must still be asleep...
Well enough rambling for now, hope all who see this are having a good day.  I'm going to go out for Chinese food this evening.

Been 7 days since my last "Friday" post

Well duh !!!  I am willing to put a bounty on the WeatherMan... what in the sane world could he have been thinking, saying that "Memorial Day" would be really nice?? As compared to what??, a Typhoon, maybe a Hurricane???
What I really can't figure out is why the weather bureau spends sooooo much money on the latest meteorlogical measuring equipment when all they gotta do is look out the window or for even more accurate weather prediction, ask Mrs. Bitchenbox how her 'corns' feel??
Years ago, people relied on the Farmer's Almanac... and ya know something, their predictions were a lot more accurate than what we get now.
Not that any of us could possibly afford the gas to "Go" anyplace nice anyway... gotta save that petrol to get to work...  I'm already workin on a 3rd mortgage so I can fill up the Harley... Thanks GW, I appreciate that.
Well one good thing is it's Friday.  I don't know about ya'll, but the rain does give me a pretty good excuse to kick back and watch a good flick.  "I Love Red Box".
SmackDown tonight so that will blow off at least 2 hours... Leann, you must surely be working tonight or something.  Haven't heard a peep out of you.

Just a 'Wellness" note...

Better now, it's about 4:30 and finally, the headache appears to have meandered to some other place far away from me. The weather sucks, grey and overcast and damp. I thought they predicted nice weather for Memorial Day... Ya, right on. Falls right in line with the attitude adjustment the Oil companies provided for the Holidays. B@$@##$'s anyway. Terminal Diarrhea would be a fitting reward for GWB and his ill shooting co-conspirator me thinks. May Omar's sickest camel come defecate in your pillow case.

Brain cell destruction •

I hate it when I get a headache... rare though it may be, disaster is what it wreaks when it comes to visit.  Excedrin, my old standby, is failing me on this one...
It's not a pounder, but a nagger that wants to extend it's visitation rights a bit longer.  Perhaps I just need to "think it out" of my mind and it will go cowering away on it's own with it's pointed tail between it's scurvy little legs...
Funny (not) it's located along the temples rather than the forehead or the base of the neck and just lies there festering and scabbing the interior of my skull.  My stomach is a shade of green also and that could be indicative of something...
Can't be the Caakies as I've not made any.  Maybe I need some... *grin* "need what" you ask... I will leave that answer to your twisted mind to conjure up.

Here and There and Here again...

Twas good, but of course, how else could it be??  The lady was there and the Lady was faire.  Good conversation is always something we can and should enjoy with another.

It was nice to put a real time face with a real Lady and that is appreciated for certain.  We talked and laughed and got some idea of who we each are and what we are about.

We departed Shari's about 4:40, her in her focus and me in the Toy.  Back here at the tent and with chisel and hammer I knock out yet another rendition of collective thoughts.  The day has turned nice, but for how long is a matter of pure speculation.

Cats remain her favorite and dogs will forever be mine... Nothing insurmountable but interesting just the same.  We, neither of us, know if we will replace our pet companions once they are no longer with us...  I suppose, it's something I will have to revisit once that happens.

The iced tea I had was pretty good and the pie and ice cream was better.  Life goes on.  We will enjoy the race and then a good dinner on the 27th..  Thanks God, for today.

Charging off on Sir Gallahad's Steed

With rusty sword in hand and a vexing smile doth I proceed to swoon the faire maiden... Likely scenario, actually a cup of coffee and glib conversation will likely be the case..

When the unknown engenders a pause in ones step or a quickening of the pulse, a bridle on the tongue is oft the best course of action. Today, I shall proceed with said caution and of course put forth hopefully my best foot (if I can keep it from the confines of my mouth).

New venture with the upmost hopes for a gleeful and happy ending. This is just the beginning I hope and the first of many enjoyable encounters. The hour approaches and even in the lusty heart of your favorite conqueror doth the butterflies flutter. Egads, this sound like some tripe from a 17th century conquest. Anyway, hope the pie is good, I already know of the coffee.

Filler 'yup' ain't it so???

Gads, I'd love to tell ya it ain't so, but we all know the feeling and it ain't likely to change any time real soon.

My guess is that the Oil reserves down in Crawford, Texas ain't quite topped off yet but come January, 09 the free flowing cash reserves of the American Public will cease to flow into the gates shown below...

GWB Oil Reserves

home sweet home

Makes me pretty happy to know that neither of the Demopublicans are heavily invested in the Oil industry with the possible exception of the Giant SUV's they probably drive.

Ya gotta believe that McCain has oil interests... if not him, perhaps the lady who shares his name has some (but not here, in OUR country).

Anywhew, it's up there and you can yuk it up a little and maybe, it made light of your day and creased your face with a smile...

The "Caakies" Bakearama Event...

Catchy name eh?? Thought so myself... Well here's the real deal Vern. For those of us too lazy to do it the old fashioned way.
Ingredients include:
(1) box any (and I mean any) cake mix 18.25 oz. size. (2) clucker droppings (eggs). (1/2) cup garden variety vegetable oil.
Process thusly:
Mix the above mentioned ingredients (and only those ingredients) in an average sized bowl until blended nicely. (you can add nutz, raisins, chocolate chips, almonds, pecans... you name it) Drop cookie sized dollops onto a ungreased baking pan/sheet. Crank the heat to about 350˚ and bake till light brown color (8 -10 mins). OK partner, there ya got it "Caakies" cookies for the rest of us Life is good and the caakies should be too...

The 'Sky' opened this morning

Water... how wonderful to have it today, considering I fertilized yesterday and had it not come, my yards would have burned to a crisp.. A friend went to the Coast, I've not been this year, but would like to go at some point. I want to introduce her to the $20 leather store... A grand place to drop a few bucks. Old towne beckons also with their shops and unusual items. Watching from the Docks is also a neat thing to do. My Sister is having computer problems, I hope they get solved soon... we both have the same type of computers (Apple iMacs). I've had no problems but she has... perhaps not all generated by the computer but who knows. Along side the rain rides the gloom of the grey pony... no sunshine to be seen. Amazing how it tempers our outlook. I don't mind some of it, but when it is continual, it is dismal and for some, very depressing. Grey is one of my favorite colors... just not in the sky.

Darkness dances in the distance...

Well, the evening has snuck up on me and enveloped the house and the sky is no longer blue... Time seems to slide by as easily as an ice cold bud slides down... I wish I could put on the brakes sometimes. Talkin to my Sis right now, nothing special, I think she just likes to exercise her jaw once in awhile. They're eating late tonight. Their days start about Noon and go from there. It's hard to adjust to their hours when I visit but I love them so I accommodate their style. Quiet night, WWE was OK, but basically the SOS. I am a creature of poor taste I guess. But it's mine so byte me. Leann... you are so very obviously absent... My imagination works wonderfully. Anyway, I am going to watch the tube for a bit then see where the Sandman will direct my journey...

If you 'fertilize' they will 'grow'.

This morning, much earlier than I wanted, I was out on the front lawn disbursing copious amounts of "come here and get it and die you beast die" mixture for the benefit of the residents of my yard. I had hoped for a little heavier dew, as I didn't bother to "wet the lawn" prior to putting it on. We are supposed to be blessed with some water this evening and more tomorrow... if not, my green oasis will resemble the Sahara desert in a couple of days. Never had a green thumb, unless you count that time I flattened it with a hammer and didn't see a Dr. Amazing what a little turpentine and steel nerve will accomplish. Reminds me of when I used to cure poison oak with a little gasoline and a brillo pad.. Sure glad it never got to my face. I got a new Hummingbird feeder today and concocted a batch of red feed for them so will install that in a bit and see if I can lure the little buggers... I love their colors. Specially the red from the 12 gauge. *grin*

A time to murder...

Well that should have your attention anyway. Actually, I just returned from buying some weed and feed for the yard and the post title is for the benefit of the DandyLions and clover. Nice out today, not quite as hot and a shade on the overcast side. I can deal with that. Spaghetti sauce is thawing so hopefully by dinner time it will be ready to go. No emails from anybody today, I suppose it is truly a day of rest for all. Those I thought I might hear from have been conspicuously absent and of course one only wonders why??? work I hope...

The "green machine" rules...

Well, although we didn't make a substantial trip today, I did sit astradle the old fashioned saddle and rode the 'Iron Maiden' down to the end of the street and back.

My arm feels better, but will be a long time in the healing process. I don't think it would affect my riding, it's more of a question of 'what if'. Me and the what if group don't get along too good anyway.

The sounds of the dirt track racers is wafting into the house thru the open flap of the tent. Thinking about dinner and what I might have.

Oh total coolness... I am getting the bamboo steamer Monday and also a wok... heck of a deal... now I just need lessons on using them... any good volunteer teachers out there.... hmmmmm??

Maybe tomorrow will bring more of a ride but then who knows for sure?

Blue Sky and Apple pie...

Lord I thank you, Beautiful day... warm, more than I like but beautiful just the same. Clynton came over this morning while I was cleaning the "Patton" fan... he and Dalton stayed for a while then meandered back across the trail to their tent. Got the fan all clean now and it still works so that is a plus. Later, Clyntons cousin came over to his place and they are putting on new brakes on his Nissan 4X4. Hot outside... I took over the fan for Clynton to use. Not sure what is happening this afternoon, Fred said he was coming over for a beer, but I've heard that one before too. Be nice if he bought some once in a while. Actually he does. Emails are scant for the last day or two... must be something in the water or lack of. Actually I suppose they've been pretty busy... Checked out the CL postings and it's becoming obvious to me that animals have learned to use the computer. How in the world can someone claim to be an "Educator" and be unable to spell the simplest of words... NO FREAKIN PRIDE... Dalton has some birthday party this afternoon according to Clynton... Good thing for kids to do.

Friday, May 16, 2008

Yet another "Friday"... what now?

Well, pickles in the woodpile.. here we go with another beautiful weekend and my arm is not yet to the point where riding the 'Hog' would be advisable... Damn I am dumb sometimes. This afternoon, I will mow the yards and it will be hotter than the devil but the requirement is knocking on my mental door so I must address it... Tomorrow I will invest some money in Sam Walton's retirement center and get the stuff to kill off the moss and the clover and dandylions that seem to have taken up permanent residence in my yards... Damn them!! Maybe I should salvage them for some Dandylion wine?? Anyone know how to make it?? I've heard that the greens are good in salads too but I've never gotten the nerve to try it. Anyone reading this like "Peanut Butter Cookies" *big smile* You know who you are, don't you !!
Brownsville park... gotta check that out for a future date... right??

Hell on Earth... here and now.

Wow, I suppose that was a pretty rough title, but then again considering the "Hell" that heat puts me thru. The day is absolutely beautiful, gorgeous blue sky with wispy white clouds but therein lurk the murkiness of humidity... that which drains the strength of Atlas and Goliath and, unfortunately me. Heat Stroke times 2 in VietNam left me with little tolerance for muggy hot weather. There are those who would tell you that you acclimate to different weather situations but I can tell you that after living in Virginia Beach for 9 years... It just damn well didn't happen.

There goes the bucket

Money, though commonly thought of as the root of all evil is in all honesty just another vehicle we use to get from one state to another state... in that I mean "in debt to out of debt", from "have not to have"..

Granted, it's often used for immoral purposes and even illicit purposes but in my case today, it's purpose is to keep the wolves at bay. Now, freshly fortified by the dispersal of copious amounts of cash, I can hold my head high and bark at the moon. The critters are sated and life progresses.

Hidden Salvation ~

Ah, the sweet sound of exhaled frustration when the solution was so near all the time. She is happy now and life has once again become a good thing. Some day, with the Lords help, she may decide to listen to me... God knows how I've tried to convince her of her erroneous ways but it is always the crisis that brings her back... I love her because

Up the Down slide

Lack of organization... the inability to control one's environment, the total loss of any type or style of order. This might be a very apt description of a relative of mine. Sadly, she feels that she has everything under control, and those things she isn't in control of have no business in her life to begin with. I am not a organization freak, but on the other hand nor am I haphazard in the structure of my daily living. People like this lady blow my mind. Yet, I am the one she calls. Time and time again for the same type things... Sanity, how dost thou leave me in my time of strife???

Varying degrees of insanity

Today is another in what seems like a never ending succession of dim witted days in which I've managed to accomplish nothing that made much sense. I will say that I've re-organized this Blog and included some things that were missing. Now the secret is to have someone other than me read it. Ladies, dear sweet ladies... how you befuddle my mind. Anyway, so much for now with more coming at a later time... thanks for the visit.

The 'dog' is coming...

Ralphy will get his summer cut today... he acquires a totally new persona after the groomer takes away his hair. He is an Aristocrat among animals. His eyes convey the love and adoration that he has for his family. Yes, odd that I consider myself part of his family, but for nearly 12 years now he's been with us, it's only for the last two that he has had two different households to call home. it will be nice to pick him up tomorrow and spend the day with him... He won't be around too much longer, Golden's don't usually live much beyond 13 or 14 years. I will be sad when he leaves.

The Other Side...

I often wonder what it is that attracts different women to men... I've posted ads and had replies and read the ads of others. It oft reads like a christmas shopping list. How is it that we think we can pick and choose and find the "Just right" person?? People, mates, friends, are all trained thru exposure to our mental environment. They act and react based upon what they know and believe we will accept. We all know the limits of our friendships and our lovers. We know what buttons to push and which to avoid. All of which boil down to acquired knowledge of the other. The training happens behind the scenes, in the background of our relationship. Much like a small child that learns not to touch a hot stove... until they do it once, they cannot really know the result... until we step on our friends, we don't really know that it would be offensive or hurt them. We often don't realize where the tender spots lie. Life, the pursuit of which I dearly love, does indeed provide challenges. Question is are we up for the task?? I hope so.
