Friday... gonna be busy around here...

The last two days have been much cooler, in the low 70˚ or so, much more bearable than the 90˚+ days that were at the beginning of my stay.
Today, my Sis and Gareth will be getting not only their new mattress and box springs set, also Gareth purchased a 50" plazma for the family room and Lollie picked out a temporary stand for it. Tonight we watch quality TV.
Well, shortly after 10am and the TV and stand have arrived. The two technicians set it up but were unable to get the DVR working right so Tony will be arriving to set it up I guess.
Right after they left, the new Mattress and boxspring arrived and is now set up too.
It will be exciting, getting things hidden and re-routed so that the critical eye of my Sister will be sated...
I am ready to come home... it has been good, but it's time. (sound familiar Leann?)
I'll be back Sunday afternoon.

Thursday... I am leaving Sunday...

After catching this video on "Hulu", I decided that perhaps I would share it here...It addresses a subject that I am interested in...
Nothing much going on so sit back and enjoy the movie...

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Perhaps a shade cooler today, but still hot.

Well it is Wednesday... what will we do? I don't know for sure, but I believe that we will be going down to the stereo store so my sister can pick out a stand for the new 50" plasma screen TV that they are getting. It should be fun.
Nothing else is planned I don't believe but Friday will be exciting as they get their new boxspring and mattress set ($3,200) plus the big screen TV is supposed to arrive too.
They should be sleeping like angels in heaven on the new bed.

95˚ today... Very very warm.

I've no idea what today will bring outside of a lunch date that Gareth and I have... sort of a guys time thing. Last year, we found this neat little bar where the beer was ice cold and the food was not only tasty, but affordable too.
It is very close so we won't spend a lot of time driving to it. We also will be looking for a new transformer for his desk lamp... Radio Shack and Folsom Lighting come to mind as places to check.
I am happy to be able to post to my blog while on vacation as I can update my friends on what is going on and also check their blogs and see how they are...
Have a wonderful day, I am sure I will.
Watch this little kid play some trick shots and I thought I knew some good shots...

A very warm Monday... 95˚ today

We all slept very well last night, it had been a long and eventful day which we all enjoyed... the trip to the winery and the picture taking plus the drive were all good.
Today my Sis has a Dr. appt. to find out exactly what is wrong with her foot... I told her that perhaps the hoof was not properly shod... took her a bit to catch on but after that the beatings resumed.
Enjoy the day my friends...

Actually, Today is Sunday...

Lollie and Gareth and I took the Mini out to wine country today, all of us in the little car and it really was pretty nice...
We stopped Railey's market and bought precooked BBQ Ribs (they are succulicious) and corn on the cob for dinner accompanied by a 5 star salad.
Great day almost 90˚ too. It's late now 10:07 PM so I will be off to bed eventually.

Birthday Party Bonaza !!!

The trip to California went very well, the Mini performed flawlessly and there were no incidents on the road at all.
I left the house at about 6:15 and stopped at the freeway Arco to top off the tank. The next stop I made was at South Weed Exit where I got a quick breakfast. Next stop was at Redding, Ca. for fuel.
Then I stopped at Red Bluff at a rest area to call my sister and continue the ruse and told her that I was cleaning daisy's out of my yard because the day was nice... (terrible thing, lying to your sister).
Arrived at Folsom about 4pm after a 15 minute traffic delay (the freeway became a parking lot essentially).
I stopped and washed the Mini and then parked in the shopping mall where the restaurant is located and shopped around until 7:45 at which time I entered the restaurant and snuck up behind Lollie and put my hands over her eyes... All thirty guests were already there and witnessed this... my sis had no idea who it was until she turned around. Phenomenal surprise for her. A wonderful time and reuniting with many people I know was great too.
I won't bore you with the dinner details but it was good. Next Post???? when you catch me...

Yipeeeeee.... Tomorrow it starts...

Well, nothing special to post today, I am anxious, excited and impatient...
'nuff said??
Maybe not, so here is some more...

Stopped at LinnCo and got some cash... then to the Thousand Island store and got a gift for Lollie and a card too.

Back home now, need to buy a clothes rail for the mini.

Nice day outside.  I went to Bi-mart and bought a really nice bar, cost me $15 and then when I got home I found that it was too long, had to cut it apart and shorten it but it works now...

The weather is beautiful, it pains me to think that it will rain at some point or so they predict...

I have a box packed with ‘stuff’, will put in the hanging stuff later and a small bag with incidentals.

Wednesday, after today just one more...

Getting out of bed today was something I would rather have avoided... it was warm and comfortable. Anyhow, Coffee at McDonalds was typical with the usual list of suspects. Good conversation is at a premium not often achieved but constantly sought after. Del and I did have some good discussions and of course, Bob, puts in his two cents which considering the current value of the dollar would be best kept to himself. Back home now, cleaned the kitchen and made some toast for breakfast. I cleaned Ralphy’s water bowl and filled it with fresh water in preparation of his visit today. The skies are overcast, I hope no rain falls so that I can mow the yards.

One more day to deliver then I'm gone.

Coffee as usual, the weather is a tad on the chilly side this morning. I gave the converter box to Ralph at coffee, he seemed pleased. Off to deliver my meals, at the end of my route, I found myself short two meals and I thought I had counted them right... not to worry though, one client said she had plenty and unfortunately another had been in a car accident. Back to the center then off to Bi-Mart to check my number and of course, I didn’t get lucky... Back home now, cleaned up the dishes, made a cup of hot chocolate and some toast with peanut butter.

Manic Monday... I hate taxes!!

Coffee at McDonalds then off to deliver meals... After that I stopped and got the Fed’s check for $430 and $75 for Claudine (too much I think). Dropped off the cash to Claudine and picked up the taxes... from there, off to Comcast to get Ralphy a box. Then to Wal★Mart where I got some baby asprin and some ibuprofen and some crackers and mayo and sweet relish, a diet pepsi and some cheese spread. Back home now, put the check to the Feds in the mail and came back inside and washed the dishes and put the groceries away... Rainy day, glad I am inside.

Happy Easter Sunday to you all...

Coffee at McDonalds. It is raining and evidently has most of the night. Back home, today at coffee was confrontational with Ralph, I suppose it is because of his age but at times it becomes irritating and I need to walk away for a bit. It is difficult to offer help to someone who is either too proud to accept it or perhaps as in Ralph’s case, not able to fully understand your intent. If I reach that point where I cannot fully understand what is being said to me, I hope someone has the common decency to put me out of my misery... Above all, I never want to be a burden... not to anyone. It is Easter Sunday, a very special day that we should all respect and pay tribute to. My God and perhaps yours too, gave his all for us and for that I shall forever be thankful. Sadness reigns in my heart for those who have no belief in the sacrifices our Lord made... their reward will not exist and I hope, especially on this day, that they take Christ as their Savior... It is the only path to salvation. Bless you all and may you enjoy the day with those you love and who love you. My daughter will be coming over with her boyfriend after church so that will be special.

Saturday "Photo shoot day"... good results??

                     How Old??   Young !!!
Coffee at McDonalds at about 7am. From there, Del and I went to AppleTree’s for breakfast then I came home and combed my hair and got a couple shirts and went out to Julia’s to have her take some pictures. She couldn’t get her printer to work so I took the pictures on an SD card to Wal★Mart and printed them out there... 15 pictures 4x6 for $4.50. The pictures were good, obviously some better than others though. I took one down and gave to Maria’s daughter for them to take to the PI when they leave on Monday. I like the pictures of me today, wish there was a little more hair on top but other than that... I don’t look too bad for an old man.  If you like, check them out here...

Friday, April 10, 2009

Thank you Lord, for Friday.

Nice morning so far, no rain yet although the sky promises some... perhaps later on. Coffee at McDonalds then off to have Raullie cut my hair and then off to deliver the meals... I decided to have lunch at then center again. Today they had Veal, gravy and scalloped potatoes... not bad at all Went to Economy to see about their motion switches and was not impressed, perhaps tomorrow I will go to Home depot. I did buy a can of fluorescent green paint to enhance the leaves I have in frames. It really makes them pop off the black background. I got the leaves painted and back into the frames and boy what a difference it made... I will get together with Julie Slife tomorrow and have her take a few pictures of me, I promised Marie one so she can show the ladies in the Philippines what a good looking guy looks like.

Thankless Thursday, rain and more rain...

Raining this morning, the dampness will do a lot for the trees I guess. Off to Coffee at McDonalds then to the center to deliver the meals for the day The meal looked really good, so I decided to eat at the center after my deliveries... I got the only piece of Roast Beef that was full of grizzle and veins... figures I guess. Stopped and cashed the check for the accident, settled for half the estimate because it was one claimant’s word against the other and no witnesses. Back home now and wondering what I should do on this miserable day... probably nothing much.

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

My Day off... Wednesday weather promotes movies...

Wet and cold this morning, I really wanted to stay in bed but for some reason I cannot... Coffee at McDonalds and the usual crowd. I did take the ‘redneck letter’ to the gentleman from Arkansas... he seemed to enjoy it a lot. I rented ‘Marley and me’ and ‘7 pounds’. Figure it is a good day to watch a couple movies. I ended up leaving there to come home around 8:40. Once home, I cleaned up the kitchen and made some hot chocolate and a sourdough English muffin.

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Off Tomorrow but on my game...

Tuesdays are nice because I have Wednesdays off. I will have the academy meeting tonight though. I likely will fill up the Toyota before the meeting as it is getting down on fuel The day is nice, but clouds have started to make their appearance and in the next 24 hours, rain will once again be with us... I got the cement and the cleaner for the PVC pipe and finished putting the gizmo together... I need some 2ltr. bottles now to finish the project.

Sunday, April 5, 2009

Sunny Sunday... a good day to be alive...

Up a little later this morning, off to Coffee at McDonalds where Del came in and the Gentleman from Arkansas and Bob was there too. Norm and his girlfriend showed up also. After coffee, I went to Lebanon Shop 'n Kart and got some milk and salsa (not a good mixture). Back home, parked the mini on the carport for later washing. Having some hot chocolate now after cleaning up the kitchen.

Saturday, April 4, 2009

Spring has sprung on this Saturday...

Up about 6:40 and decided to go to Coffee at McDonalds even though it is Saturday and I did feel like sleeping in some. Good visit with all, then back home and cleaned my bathroom, even the floor and shower and all the bottles on the sink. I have it closed up now, allowing the bleach to work on the shower... I took down the shower curtain and bleached the bottom of it and it is now in the washer... I have my laundry in the dryer now... Vacuumed the entire house and will likely start dusting in a bit. Domestic bitch is what I’ve become... due to the lack of a female partner or cleaning lady, I find myself doing these chores... To be honest, I do a much better job. The sky is looking blue after being blanketed in fog this morning, I believe it will be a nice day... Perhaps mowing?? maybe...

Friday, April 3, 2009

Finally... and end to the week

Up and off to Coffee at McDonalds. The day is starting off cold and with angry skies prevailing... I don’t see the sun making much of an appearance today. Off to deliver meals, only had one no show, John as usual didn’t call. Stopped at the Credit union for some cash, put $25 in Jacks card and then off to the Sheriffs sub-station for a pot luck. The dinner went well and I am now a volunteer on an ‘as needed’ basis. From there, I stopped and dropped off the card to the mailbox at the new Post office. Home now and turned up the heat a little and replace the plastic bags in the garbage cans...

4th day of the work week...

This is a fine but rainy day that I’ve opened my eyes to. Coffee at McDonalds then deliveries. I wish so much that we could see some sunshine... it will come, I know that, but it seems to take so long. The morning has gone well and I stopped and bought a motion sensor switch at Bi-Rite today for the main bathroom, but will return it tomorrow. I can find it a lot cheaper. Hopefully your day will go well and good things will come to you...

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Blah......

Nothing overly exciting today, I do have a lunch date followed by a movie date but that pretty much sums up the day...
The day changed, after leaving the house for Albany and a Lunch date with Movie.  The lunch was great, we had a good visit and then floundered around Fred Meyer for a bit then off to watch "Monsters / Aliens".  A good show, but I liked "Ice Age" better.
Back home now and checking emails etc... still nasty outside though.

Terrible weather Tuesday...

Up about 7am this morning, I didn’t bother setting an alarm as I knew that I would awaken once the light came in the bedroom window. Down to Coffee at McDonalds and after that off to deliver meals... I had 17 customers, Peggy didn’t come to the door, although I noticed that her are was missing from the lot so she may have been shopping. Stopped at Bi-Mart to check my number but no luck... I did buy a can of beef broth and a can of beef stew that I will add a can of peas, corn and green beans to along with a dash of instant potato mix to thicken... should make for a nice little meal. The weather is cold and overcast again today... it is often during stretches of weather like this that I seriously consider relocating.
Tonight is another meeting of the "Citizens Academy" in Scio, looks to be a wet trip out there.

Monday, March 30, 2009

WWE Tonight... Yea !!!

Coffee at McDonalds then off to deliver meals... While at coffee, Bob, the idiot, once again got in my face, (standing right up in your face) and I told him to move back a little, he didn’t do it so I got up and “Moved” him to a distance I liked more... Most people don’t cause me anxiety, but when people get into my space, it brings about a fundamental change in me that I have difficulty controlling... He was lucky, this time. Other than that, deliveries went fine and I stopped at Lebanon shop ‘n Kart and got some sourdough muffins and some whipped Philadelphia creme cheese...

Sunday, March 29, 2009

Then end or beginning of the Week...

Slept in until about 7:40 this morning, then Coffee at McDonalds and now back home. The day looks gloomy, and I believe that it will storm again before the sun sets. I took some ‘Texas toast’ and a bag of spaghetti sauce out of the freezer to fix for dinner tonight. Likely will have to hit the store today and get some decent sized shell noodles though. I also need to fill the Toyota.

Typical Wet Saturday... will rain all weekend...

This video is specially for Leann...
Got up this morning just past 6:30 and headed down to McDonald's for coffee. After being there about 30 minutes, Del showed up and I really thought he might not, but he did. We left there a little after 8 and went out to Shirley Mays and he bought me breakfast. We sat with a couple guys who were also friends and had a conversation with them while we enjoyed breakfast. One of the worked at AA auto wreckers in Albany and the other must have been retired from one of the local mills. Funny, when you meet strangers like that how you can have a really neat conversation and learn a little about their lives. It was a good time and good breakfast. Del shared that he is no longer involved with a girlfriend so I suggested to him that he is likely to once again be on the prowl... It is raining outside, makes me so happy that I took care of the lawns yesterday. At this rate, April should be a wonderful month. Back home and turned up the heat some as it’s chilly inside the house.

TGIF my friends...

Glad it's Friday. (A little video for fun up there) I have had an interesting week for sure.  Been busy and had events happen that would have been better left unhappened especially the accident at McDonald's.
I filed a complaint with the Oregon Insurance Commissioner today as it appeared that Hagerty Insurance was not going to budge from their declared 50% liability idea.  I truly could not accept being 50% liable for an accident that I didn't cause... No wonder people hate insurance companies...
Not too much else going on, given the rain forecast, I decided to mow the yards today.  I even used the bag and have the clippings in the back of the Pickup for later disposal.
Yard looks nice, but I really need to do something about the darn moss.  Last couple years have really been bad for moss.
Do any of you have any plans for the weekend..? I am going to cash in my breakfast chit with Del, maybe tomorrow if I am lucky.

Thursday, March 26, 2009

A good Thursday is nice to have

Here is a picture of the accident scene at McDonalds, the "T" is for my toyota and the "C" is the other guys Camarro... pretty obvious he backed into me.
Up about 6:20 again this morning, dressed and off to Coffee at McDonalds. Nice morning, although the fog did appear whilst I was having coffee. The sky is somewhat overcast from the blue it was this morning. Deliveries went well. I stopped to talk to Don about the offer Lauren made and he suggested calling the Insurance Commissioner. Back home now, called Lauren and told her my feelings about them wanting me to accept 50% blame for the accident and they staunchly stood by the 50% offer and I refused it.

Mini madness and fun in the rain

As normal, whenever I have something to do first thing in the morning, I wake up early then can’t seem to get back to sleep. I am sure a lot of us are like that...
Anyhow, woke up the first time at 3:45 and just dozed on and off till about 5:30 then got a shower and dressed and headed to McDonald's . Had an sausage egg biscuit and a glass of orange juice and then hit the road. Made the trip up in the rain of course and got to Rasmussen at 7:30. Typical traffic but we managed well. Got checked in and hung out for about an hour or so then had them drop me at the Pioneer Square mall. About 11:15 they called and said the Mini was done and no oil leak at the rear main so that saved a bunch of time... I purchased a “Mobility” kit which incudes a jug of tire sealant and an air compressor and a slew of other stuff ya might need if a flat tire comes your way... My car cannot carry a spare unless it’s inside so figured I better have something to help me if I got a flat... The kit cost me $149 but a wheel and tire (as a spare) would probably be over $350 so I figure I am ahead of the game by about $150 and I can use the compressor on rafts and inner tubes etc. Got home (after a quick Taco time stop) at about 1:45. Rained all the way... Ya gotta love the valley...

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

A great day, another Sheriff Citizen academy meeting tonight...

Up and off to have coffee. While there Ralph informed me that he went up to Longview yesterday and took care of the personal business regarding his wife. Del’s suggestion for Wednesday is no longer valid so I will be making the trip to Portland alone. It rained a little bit on my route, but then dried out pretty good. I stopped at my insurance company and asked if they’d heard from the claims adjuster and they said nothing so far. I will call the claims adjuster and see what is going on.

Monday madness has arrived...

I slept well again last night... that Nyquil could be addicting. I think the vitamin C has done a good job also. I believe that I have chased the cold germs away. Coffee at McDonalds and then deliveries of course. I stopped at Shop ‘n Kart and got some milk and they have yogurt on sale, 4/3$ so I got 4 of them. The weather is typical March so not too much sunshine and rain in the near distance...
A dear friend and I discussed the potentials of 'Exotic Dancers' and we concluded that it likely would not be in her future endeavors...  I have decided that in the event that I consider that occupation, a rubber room with soft toys would be fitting the remainder of my time.
Fear not, even I cannot imagine a site like that...

Sunday, March 22, 2009

My first cold in 2 years...

Slept pretty well last night, I think the Nyquil helped and will continue it’s use tonight. I am also taking vitamin C in large doses and that cannot hurt either. I actually didn’t get up until about 8:20. I hardly ever am in bed that late, but with the cold I seem to have gotten, the extra sleep is probably good for me. Rain would be the order of the day. It is gently raining outside and looks to have been most of the night too. I decided to hang out with sweats today and just keep warm and drink fluids to flush this cold out. The Food City 500 at Bristol is today so that will be good to watch.

Saturday, March 21, 2009

Saturday and Spring is in the air...

I decided to get up a little later today, about 7am and then meandered down to Coffee at McDonalds. Upon getting back home, I decided to throw a load of wash in the washer and then clean up the kitchen. I went to get some water from the cooler and noticed a green tinge to the container, a 5 gallon carboy. Evidently, it takes me too long to go thru 5 gallons of water thus allowing the growth of algae inside the bottle. I took the carboy off the cooler and rinsed it with bleach water which removed the algae and then I also decided that I would no longer use the cooler either. I put the cooler in the garage and stored the carboy with the other one in the main bathroom. I will just keep a picture of water in the refrigerator. The chlorine smell will evaporate over a few hours so that will make it more palatable.

Friday, March 20, 2009

Another end and another beginning.

Coffee at McDonalds, the weather was overcast but not too cold this morning. Off to deliver meals, I had 22 clients today but Tori says she will pare the list by 4 so Monday I should only have 18. Home now, time for hot chocolate and English muffin... I think I will do a load of laundry today. To those of you who read the blog, I hope your weekend proves good and your wishes come true...

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Thoroughly Thursday... but not special

Nothing particularly special about today, the usual coffee group and meal deliveries and such. I stopped in at Rhodes Warden and told them that Lauren wanted pictures of the damage and they agreed that I should send them which I did. Back home now, as I left the Insurance co I noticed that the Roths signs are being taken down. Sad.

Mini Wednesday and the mystery of downtown Portland

Up at a little after 6am and headed to McDonald's to meet up with Julie Slife and the go to Portland. We pulled out of McDonald's at 7am and headed North. Got to Rasmussen right about 9am. Had them drop us off at Omsi and we walked around town for a total of about 5 miles. 1:00 we had lunch at ‘My Fathers Place’ and then walked back to Omsi. They sent a driver to pick us up and take us back to Rasmussen. They got the major service done but discovered an oil leak and a bracket for the fuel pump that was defective so I will be going back up next Wednesday. Back home now and catching up on things. Nothing special in the mail box either dammit !

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Just another tuesday...

Coffee at McDonalds then off to deliver meals. I received a call from the insurance adjuster for the other guys insurance. She indicated that they would be willing to pay for half of the estimated repair cost in view of the fact that their client disputed the events of the accident. I told her I would speak with my agent and get back to her. After talking to Don Reimer at Rhodes Warden, I called the adjuster back and told her that my agent was unavailable and I would have to call her back later... No admission or acceptance, Don told me that they are bluffing. Too bad people cannot own up to responsibility in cases like this. The day is nice, cloudy with patches of blue and moderate temperature. I have my 3rd Academy meeting tonight and the first to be held in Scio.

Monday, March 16, 2009

How Mondays should NOT start...

Coffee at McDonalds which ended up in somebody backing into the rear quarter panel of my Toyota as I was sitting still waiting for traffic in the McDonald's parking lot. I went to Rhodes Warden and told Tracy, she took the information and contacted the other drivers insurance co. I went to deliver my meals and then to Main auto body for an estimate of the damage which came to $900. Stopped back in to Rhodes Warden and gave Tracy a copy of the estimate which she inturn faxed to Mr. Green’s insurance co. The other insurance company did an on phone interview with me and I told them what had happened. They asked me who’s fault I thought it was and I said the other driver as I was stopped. Back home now having some hot chocolate and an English muffin. Lovely Monday.

Sunday, March 15, 2009

Thank you Lord for this day... inspite of the weather.

Coffee at McDonalds then to Appletrees for a half order of B&G then to Shop ‘n Kart for a half gallon of milk. Back home now, cleaned up last nights dishes and stripped the bed of the sheets and pillow cases. They are not being washed. I flipped the mattress over and will re-attach the pad to the top of it and then make the bed up. As one can easily see, my days are exciting to the point of reaching the level of total boredom... I need company.

Saturday, March 14, 2009

Happy Saturday... hope you don't have to work !!

Got up at 7am and it was warmer but not much rain yet. Coffee at McDonalds and then back home where I scrambled up 3 eggs with some onion and parsley flakes. That, accompanied by some whole grain toast and hot chocolate compromised my breakfast. Today I have a load of laundry to do and will dust the living room furniture and that should just about do the chores... glad I mowed yesterday as it is wet today.
So, Leann... how goes the trips to the gym?? are you still attending regularly? and how about the reading gig, is that still your priority?  Omar is out of town for a little while, he muttered something the other day about having a legacy to fulfill... That is ominous.!!

Friday, March 13, 2009

Thank God for Friday...

Coffee at McDonalds then off to deliver meals... 21 of them today. Lovely day out, brisk this morning but warmer now. I am going to mow the yards today so that will be the first time this year.
My debit card finally arrived at LinnCo so I am happy about that.  I will go down in a bit and change the pin number to one I will be more likely to remember.
I think I better buy some fresh gas for the mower.  I will put what is in the can into the Toyota.
Hope your day is as good as mine.  God gives us great opportunities to enjoy his creations and this day is a prime example.  Don't waste it.

Thursday, March 12, 2009

Terrific Thursday... beautiful outside.

27˚ when I got up this morning. After getting dressed, I headed out the door for Coffee at McDonalds. Off then to deliver meals, I am back up to 20 clients again, tomorrow will be 21. It is absolutely beautiful outside today. The temp is cool still, but has warmed up to 43˚. Not sure what the day will hold as yet.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

A day off...

Cold this morning, about 28˚ outside but not too much moisture in the air as there isn’t frost or at least much of it on the roofs surrounding my home. Coffee at McDonalds then back home where I am having some hot chocolate and and English muffin. Good to be in a warm place right now.

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Tomorrow I am off, even more so than usual...

This morning it was cold... I had a bit of a rough night as I drank some milk just before bedtime and every time I do that it doesn’t sit well with me so I awoke several times to take anti-acid pills. I know better now. Coffee at McDonalds then off to deliver meals, after that I stopped at the bank and deposited my mileage check and kept back some cash to fill up the Toyota and later today, the Mini. Nothing special planned today with the exception of the Sheriffs citizen academy tonight at 6.

Monday, March 9, 2009

A freshness in the air along with some white stuff

Up later this morning then off to Coffee at McDonalds with the boys. I stayed there until shortly after 9am and then headed off to do my meal deliveries... one new client today. It was snowing as I enjoyed coffee this morning and tried for the rest of the morning rather unsuccessfully to continue the trend. I stopped at Shop and Kart and got some milk and hot chocolate mix and a box of Giradelli Brownie mix along with a dozen eggs. Lollie told me the Giradelli brownies were very good. Back home now and drying a load of clothes.

Sunday, March 8, 2009

Daylight Savings time... nothing short of a pain.

I awoke this morning and thought my, I forgot to set the clocks ahead, then decided that it was something that could likely wait for a bit. I dressed and headed down to Coffee at McDonalds. The usual suspect minus a few showed up. I was however blessed to see David Schmidt who is, along with his wife, leaving at noon today to move to either Vermont or Maryland, I forget which... it is where she lives in any case. Back home now, and according to the new time standard, it is about a quarter of 10.
I suppose an update would be approrpiate, the coffee date with a new friend went well, she seems nice, is a buddhist and lives on about 4.5 acres just off hwy 34.  She owns a trailer which she resides in and shares some space for her daughter and son-in-law for their trailer.
She seems well grounded and appears to be a hard working woman who would love to retire but has found it to be not in the cards at this playing of life's hand.  We agreed to continue the friendship... God, in his mighty wisdom, will dictate the direction it will take.  I am just along for the ride.
Leann, my thoughts are with you, I know the choices you face will not be easy, but also I know you are up to the challenge.
You were so close last night, after all Kelly isn't that far from me.  Perhaps next time you are that close you could stop in.  I look forward to seeing you.

Damp, dank and otherwise a foul day...

Coffee at McDonalds after dressing nicely. I stayed there until about 9am then came home to do a few things before the coffee date at Appletrees. It is raining slightly, so the Mini got a little wet but nothing to worry about. I don’t think that it will rust. The time now is 9:21 am so it won’t be long and I shall depart for the coffee date. That should prove interesting to say the least, Hope will spring eternal I suppose. When I started up the Mail program, I noticed that it sent out a message, obviously one that didn’t go out last night... probably to JoyceMarie.

Richly appears the weekend once again...

Coffee at McDonalds then meals deliveries... the day is nice, not particularly warm, but at least dry. 17 clients and one no show... not bad for a friday I guess. Back home, took out some spaghetti sauce and that will likely be dinner tonight unless I decide to go to Appletrees for a cobb salad, which I will do if Jaime is cooking. A load of clothes are in the dryer and when they are done, that will suffice for laundry work this week.

Wet and nasty Thursday... rain sucks.

I was awake early today, much earlier than I wanted to be... Sometimes dreams are disturbing and not always in a bad way. This morning was such an occasion. I finally got up at 6am and headed down to McDonald's for coffee. A bout 8:35 I left to go deliver meals... that would be lovely with with the wind and the rain.... On the way home, Ralph called and wanted me to pick him up at Woods Trailer park and take him to pick up his car at rheems. Back home now having some hot chocolate and an English muffin.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

My dog is visiting me today...

Up early then Coffee at McDonalds. Left at about 8:15 as Julie will be dropping off Ralphy about 8:30. I brushed him, she said that she does, but really she doesn’t do much of a job. I get tons of hair out of his coat when I brush him. It fogged up some this morning and there was frost on the cars. Winter is not finished yet and may indeed have some surprises for us...
I am enjoying some hot chocolate this morning and Ralphy is snoozing in the warm air provided by the furnace... hopefully having nice doggie style dreams and no discomfort...
Leann, I started collecting the new "Dollar Presidential Coins" a year or so ago and now wonder if I will live long enough to have them all before I leave this earth... hopefully I will, it should only take a few more years to become current as they come out every quarter of the year.

Done with deliveries till Thursday...

Coffee at McDonalds then I wandered down to the Center to deliver my meals for the day. On the way back from deliveries, I stopped in at LinnCo and withdrew a little cash for the stash. Back home now, washed out my hot chocolate cup from last night and made myself a fresh cup. The weather is overcast, but not really cold at all. The roads are dry but the forecast does call for precipitation today. I called Fred and inquired as to where he was yesterday when he was supposed to come by for a beer... typical of him though.. Ralph will be buying me a roll of the latest dollars and bringing it by this afternoon.

Just another Monday

After having coffee, and delivering my clients meals, I stopped for a moment at Roths to see how far along the demise of my favorite store had come...
I go to see Nathan, one of my favorite clerks (outside of Katie of course) and we chatted a bit. He doesn't have any particular plans excluding getting some 'rocking chair' money for a little while.
I've nothing special planned today, but am thinking about making a trip to Sacramento on my sister's birthday...

Another Sunday, what to do???

Well, this day represents a new beginning I suppose, a lofty goal yet to be achieved and a desire to improve my lot in physical life. I am off to Coffee at McDonalds and then will return home once again to prepare for the days events... none of which are planned as yet. The weather is warmer than yesterday, although it is cloudy with the constant threat of rain looming in the background. How I long for the days of blue skies and fleeting white clouds with a light breeze in my face... It’s coming, I know it is.

Good Breakfast is the way to start the day...

I started out the morning with coffee at MacDonalds. After about an hour and a half there, Del and I decided to head down to Appletrees and grab some actual breakfast.
We had the special which is good except that I don't care for patty sausage but today I had it anyway.
After that, we both went our own way and I came home. I decided it was time to dust the bedroom furniture and all the pictures in the house.
After doing that, I was watching a little TV and decided to check to see if Comcast had sent out any messages to their subscribers. Upon perusing the messages, I found one that addressed the digital converter box that I've had fits with.
I called comcast and they stepped me thru the process (I didn't know you had to call them to send a signal that unlocked the box. After that, I now get all the channels that were missing.
This afternoon and evening I have been basically catching up on recorded shows. It is almost 8pm but I am tired and don't know how much longer I will remain up.
Hope you all had a great day..
I start the fast tomorrow and am planning for 7 days to start. Wish me luck of course, I know they aren't the best way, but if nothing else it allows you to purge your system.

Clear sky but it ain't gonna last too long...

Up early again, Off to McDonald's for Coffee. This morning when I left the house the sky was a brilliant blue and it was cold and I mean really cold 28˚. Before I got to the center to deliver the meals, the temp had risen somewhat and the sky was half full of clouds. Once I finished deliveries, I went out to the muffler shop, but they are closed and a for sale sign hangs in the door. Stopped at Roths, to check progress and of course say hi to Katie... damn she is cute. Too bad she is so much younger and happily married. Back home now and doing some laundry and Instant Messaging with Gareth at the moment.

Thursday, February 26, 2009

The budget cuts will affect us all... even the Meals drivers.

Up early, Coffee at McDonalds then off to deliver meals... Tori told me that she can drive my route 4 miles shorter than I do so I will map it out and see how to shorten it up some. Weather was interesting, during coffee, it actually snowed a little bit, the temperature was a little biting also. Some blue sky has appeared, but doubtful that it will stay long. Today I think I will do a load of laundry, but maybe not.

Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Some come and some stay, others leave...

Got up later this morning, seems that my dreams tend to make for a restless night sometimes, I often wonder what causes certain dreams to appear. Coffee at McDonalds then to Roths to check on the store, I also got what will be my final milk purchase from them. I even bought a can of the ‘Amp’ drink that sponsors Dale Jr.’s car... Bought ten boxes of cornmeal muffin mix too. The weather is dreary, but I will have a good evening as I will meet Melissa for dinner at Wilhelms in Albany at 6:45.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Wet certainly does get old after awhile...

Coffee at McDonalds in the rain, then as usual, off to deliver meals to the indigent with a smile on my face and nourishment in my hands. Back home now, it is still raining and no particular let up is in sight. Stopped at Bi-Mart to check numbers but nothing good for me there, I did however, purchase a analog dial Taylor bathroom scale so will attempt to track my weight once again... that could go either way.
I've decided to share some pictures I received from a friend that are breathtakingly beautiful and I am certain that you all will appreciate the stunning photography that created these beautiful pictures... please, do enjoy them.

Presidents day, but we are still doing our thing at the Meals on Wheels center

Coffee at McDonalds then deliveries. I went to Comcast and got a couple of the converter boxes then off to the Senior center to deliver meals. I stopped on the way home at LinnCo and dropped off the letter for Marilyn. Got home and hooked up the converter box for the bedroom set and after a little searching, got the correct codes and now it is fully functional again. Also reprinted a mileage sheet to include todays run... for some silly reason I thought today the center was closed... good thing I checked it out.

Dreary day, glad I'm inside

Sorry about not posting yesterday, I really was just busy with emails and other things and it slipped away... Facebook seems to be occupying a bit much of my time...
Coffee at McDonalds then to Roths, but nothing appealed to me so now back home. Cleaned up the kitchen and checked on what time the Nextel cup race will be starting.... looks like about 1pm. It rained last night and the streets are still damp. I expect that it will continue to be damp all day with periods of rain... a good day to be inside.

Such a gorgeous day... Mini time !!!

Got up early this morning then Coffee at McDonalds and after that to deliver meals as usual... I had 19 clients today and the Edwards decided to cancel so now will be at 17. I am going to go to Costco today and probably Fred Meyer too and see about getting another heating pad for the bed... Costco proved to be interesting, I did get some albacore and some peanut butter (not the tainted type) and managed to buy 2 pairs of jeans. The price was right and with luck, they just might fit too. I also got some Cheezits and a box of Wheatthins, one of my favorite snack crackers. A bottle of imported oversized stuffed olives manage to fall off the shelf and into my basket so I gave it a ride home too. Stopped in at Fred Meyer to see if they had the heating pad and they told me that it was a seasonal item and they no longer had any... Can you believe it “seasonal” for a heating pad??? So then I went to the electronics area and got a WII steering wheel and a new game “Call to Duty” which is a FPS game (first person shooter) about the world wars (past tense). From there, back home. Clynton came by and I gave him the T-shirt that I purchased in Daytona Beach for him... he thought it was hilarious. I wouldn’t choose to wear it at church. Getting close to shower time now so will send this post to the blog.

Thursday, February 19, 2009

Back to the routine now...

Coffee at McDonalds and then off to deliver meals. Took John a t-shirt, he was wanting to pay me but I declined. 20 clients today, one of them was the final day for her so back to 19 tomorrow. I stopped in at Roths again and got some cookies and crackers and 3 loafs of cheese. Damn I hate it that they are closing. Weather is moderate today, looks as though it could rain later.

He's happy to be home and Oh Daytona was such a good time...

Well it’s Wednesday and I am feeling pretty foxy.  It's been quite a stretch since I last posted but I warned ya I would be gone... anyway, here goes...
I decided not to deliver meals today as I actually got home very late due to some airport problems both in Charlotte and Phoenix. I gotta tell you that the Daytona trip far exceeded my expectations and I would have been happy to spend twice as much for the good time I had. Saw the grandkids and Mandy at Charlotte, we had about 45 minutes together before Sean and I boarded the plane to Daytona. We got there about 9am and checked into the hotel (we ended up renting a car at the Daytona airport... can you believe $530 for 4 days.??? It was nice to have transportation, but not that nice. We unloaded the car at the hotel then headed out to the track... Daytona International Raceway is HUGE. I couldn’t have imagined, watching the races on TV the enormous size and complexity of the place. Fortunately, we had ‘Cold’ passes, which are good for everywhere when the cars are NOT on the TRACK. We meandered thru the pits, the gas fueling place, the area where the Goodyear Racing tires are all mounted up, strolled thru the pit area, got to see the cars in the garages with the folks working on them. I got to say Hi to Jack Rousch, he is the epitome of an asshole though, just looked at me and scowled and walked on... I also said hi to Tony Eury Jr. , Dale Jr’s Brother and leader of the crew... he is another guy that is NOT personable. Lots of pictures, as a matter of fact, 250 of them just from my camera. The weather for Thursday and Friday was warm and humid and partly sunny. Saturday weather was postcard perfect... as a matter of fact, mother nature grilled me really well on saturday. I’ve been peeling and scratching my scalp since. Sunday was OK, but the rains eventually did show up and that stopped the race at lap 152 which was well past half way so Matt Kenseth, being the leader at the time the red flag was dropped, was declared the winner. I never did get anywhere close to Dale Jr. but that’s OK. I might just track him down next time I am in Charlotte. Great time, Great to be back so on goes the saga...

Tomorrow... Oh Yeah !!!

Well, today was normal in all respects with the exception that I got to share lunch with a damn nice lady and a true friend... something we all should try to do more often.
I am home now and doing last minute laundry and what not in preparation for my pending vacation to Daytona Beach.
It was snowing lightly when I went to coffee this morning and all thru the deliveries too but now it has quit and we are faced with typical February weather, that being overcast and damp.

Monday, February 9, 2009

Oh how long the wait...

I slept pretty well last night after getting up about 12:30 to investigate a noise or at least what I thought was a noise. Nothing seemed amiss so back to bed I went. Up this morning about 6:50 and off to Coffee at McDonalds and then went to deliver meals... had 19 again today, that seems to be the constant for now. Stopped at LinnCo to see when to expect my replacement debit card and they said 7-10 days so I will likely not see it till I return. It is overcast today and the prospect for rain looms in the everpresent moment. The outlook for weather in Daytona has turned worse as the week progresses... I can only hope that the weather predictions there are as unreliable as they tend to be here in the valley...

Sunday, February 8, 2009

Next Sunday I will be in Daytona...

I was going to sleep in this morning, but for some reason could not stay the course and was down at McDonald's by about 7:15. It was a good morning peppered with rousing conversations that were all over the place. It is overcast today, not really too cold, but cool enough to warrant a jacket or at the least, a heavy shirt. I was going to stop and get some milk a the store but decided to use the dairy creamer powder that I have at home.
I've been watching the time trials for the Daytona 500 and that is interesting, still wondering what the weather is going to provide... out of 365 days in the year wouldn't you think that asking for 4 nice days was a reasonable request... especially at Daytona, Fl.???

Saturday, February 7, 2009

Great breakfast...

I met with my daughter, Melissa, at Sally Mae's for breakfast this morning.  It was a great meal and good conversation too.  She is so much more grounded in her thinking now that she is older... a true pleasure to talk to.
She has her dramaturg competition, (actually an evaluation) in Idaho next week so that will prove interesting, she tells me that it could make or break her budding career in theater... I told her, not to worry, they have her package and there is nothing at all she can do at this point to change the outcome.
Hard for her to put it on the shelf though, as she said, so much is tentatively on the line based on the outcome of this one event.
She says all the news stories about Wells Fargo Executive vacations and stuff is a bunch of bunk... they were actually for tellers that met their banks goals in the previous year... Journalists... getting to have the same rep as lawyers... that can't be good.

Friday, February 6, 2009

Friday... next Week I leave... Yea !!!

Wet and overcast but still friday in any book.  Nothing too new or unusual about today, I did stop my mail delivery for the period of time I will be gone.
My neighbor was going to gather it for me, but they made a last minute decision to go the Arizona for a week... they will be looking for Native American artifacts, arrow heads etc...
Lollie is on a trek to lose weight but I know for a fact that watching diet alone does NOT work... you have to move... Took me forever to accept that fact and I went thru all the denial tricks in the book.... move and it will go.

Thursday, February 5, 2009

Here it is, Thursday already.

I checked the extended weather report for Daytona Beach, Fl.  It don't look too promising at this point.  I can only hope that their weather people are no more qualified than ours here in the Valley are.
In any case, it will be a good time I am certain of that.

Yet another beautiful day...

Clear this morning on the way to Coffee at McDonalds and then while there the fog really rolled in thick. It’s now 10:32 am and clearing up nicely. Del came by for a visit and stayed for about 40 minutes. I have a load of laundry in the dryer now and the other in the washer. That will take care of that stuff for awhile. I am headed over to Albany this afternoon early and will stop at Kohls store and maybe even Costco. Leann, I hope you get better.. those damn migraines are a pain you know where. My mother used to suffer from them too.

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Nice stretch of good weather... I hope it prevails for awhile..

Up later than usual this morning... last night it seemed like dream after dream and none of them made any sense to me. Tossed and turned all night. Anyhow, after Coffee at McDonalds I was off to deliver meals today. Tomorrow I will be off so that will be nice too. It’s a beautiful day out today. Leann, I hope you are up to enjoy it as I know how much you like sunny days. I don’t hear from Cathy much at all anymore, I suppose she is quite busy with school and the grandkids...

Monday, February 2, 2009

A most beautiful Monday...

Coffee at McDonalds then off to deliver meals again... 19 clients today. Took the remainder of the zucchini bread down to the Meals center to share with them. Beautiful day outside, blue skies with a smattering of clouds and the temperature is semi mild. Stopped in at Roths on the way home and picked up some wings and a breast for dinner tonight. I have the hot chocolate in the making now and will enjoy a cup soon.

Sunday, February 1, 2009

Beautiful, Cold and the 1st...

The first day of February... Cold and clear. A great way to start off the month. Next Saturday, I will meet with Melissa for breakfast at Sally Mae’s out on the hiway. Coffee at McDonalds then I decided to have a half order of biscuits and gravy at AppleTree’s. It was good and just the right amount. Home now, I just finished cleaning up the dishes from last night. I’ve not used the dishwasher for a long time now... maybe I should. Well, my hot chocolate is made so now would be a great time to check the email and see what has arrived so far...

Saturday, January 31, 2009

Yet another Saturday...

Coffee at McDonalds and on the trip there, the fog was almost too thick to see thru. I had a good visit, although I must admit that the group seems to have shrunk from what it was earlier this last fall. Perhaps the winter cold keeps them in. I stopped at Bi-Mart and purchased a nice hand held mixer for those jobs that don’t require the robust power of the big one I have. Stopped at Roths and got a couple cake doughnuts and another can of hot chocolate mix plus a gallon of milk which will carry me thru the time that I leave for Daytona Beach.

Friday, January 30, 2009

Nothing short of YUCK...

Off to coffee I go, I need to put a knife blade on the front of the pickup to cut thru the fog this morning... At the Meals site, I had 2 cancels from what would otherwise have been a 19 client day... Fog all the stinking way too... Stopped at the Denturist to see about repairing a crack and now will be going back at about 2pm to retrieve my chewing device. Hope you all have a great day, albeit a little chilly one.

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Surprised about the Fog??? I was too.

Foggy this morning when I got up, then I left the house for my usual Coffee at McDonalds. From there off to deliver my meals, the fog is still here but maybe not quite as thick. I have 18 clients today. Nothing special today, I did meet Kima on the way home, he is borrowing my big jack to change out the fuel pump on his pickup... it will make lowering the tank a lot easier. I like posting to my blog straight from the journal although it makes me alter my style a little bit...

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Mid week and all is calm on the home front...

Well, I got up about 6:30 and got dressed then fed Ralphy. After that I opened the garage side door so he would be able to go to the back yard then went to have Coffee at McDonalds. Back home now and making some hot chocolate. I will probably have an English muffin also. It is a very predictive routine and one I likely should consider changing at some point. Boredom is a great incentive but I have yet to act on it. Hope you are all having a great day or at least have some plans.

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

SNOW???? ya gotta be S@#$%&$ me !!!

Got going a little earlier than I normally do this morning, I was surprised at how warm it was compared to the forecast of 24˚ for last night. I had Coffee at McDonalds then off to deliver meals, I had a new client today, he lives right across S. main from Kari place. Tomorrow I will get another one at Stillwater Apartments. Stopped in at Bi-Mart to check my numbers and I am increasingly certain that they’ve removed my number from the pool... I bought a payday candy bar there then went to TacoTime and got the luncheon special for $5 bucks... Back home and cleaned the dishes, ate lunch and now here I am updating the Journal and the Blog...

Monday, January 26, 2009

Why should they feel priviledged??

Coffee at McDonalds then off to deliver meals. Stopped at LinnCo and got $40 cash. Beautiful day outside today, very crisp, but the sky is nice and blue. Tori told me today that I would get another client tomorrow, it will be on my route so no mileage change... On the way back home I noticed a DHS car run the stopsign at 7th and Walker so I followed the lady till she stopped and told her that I noticed and that perhaps she should pay more attention to the stop signs... So happens it is also a school crossing. Damn State employees think they are above the law I think.
I seem to be having difficulties in posting to this blog from my journal... It did work for awhile then something changed and I am confused as to what it was... I know for a fact that Google has changed the password length requirement and who knows what else... Change. -( not always good...
Time to shower and get ready for the evening.
Has some of the stew I made and am even more convinced that seeing the end of it will be a day to celebrate...
Been emailing with Dan about the problems posting from MacJournal to my blog.  He gave some suggestions and the last one seemed to work.

Sunday, January 25, 2009

Tis the Lords day, make well of it...

Sunday, raining and once again gray skies. I can empathize with those who are adversely affected by winter weather. Anyhow, Coffee at McDonalds then back home. I am making a cup of hot chocolate and will likely have an English muffin to complete the breakfast routine. I’ve almost decided to use MacJournal as the vehicle to my online blog as it would eliminate a duplication of effort... more personal thoughts will remain in my journal though... I’ve been reading in the ‘Readers Digest’, an article about the benefits of writing a “Memoir”. Perhaps someday I will...

Saturday, January 24, 2009

Mild weather and domestic chores beckon...

The weather seems milder this morning, but for some reason the house seems cold.  Perhaps turning up the heat would help.
I have a friend, Randall Gordon, who is an aspiring artist (of the photographic genre) who's site is listed on my blog page.  He has some interesting art and I recommend you visit.
Nothing too special planned today except the domestic stuff.  More later if I feel moved...

Friday, January 23, 2009

Yet another end of a beginning...

Today the weather was mild, somewhat cloudy but not bad.  The weatherman said that perhaps we could see some moisture, but likely those odds will improve over the impending weekend.
A lady, at the Senior home I deliver meals to, invited me today to share in their monthly potluck dinners... she said I needn't bring anything, rather they would just enjoy my company...
I make friends of the elderly and the indigent quite easily as empathy seems deeply ingrained in my psyche.  I am happy for that as there is great need for more folks who show empathy for the less fortunate.
I hope you all have a great weekend, I don't have much planned, although Saturday night I will be watching a UFC fight that should prove to be exciting.  It's not everyone's cup 'o tea though.

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Warmer, but not 'Warm'

Coffee this morning then off to do my delivery route...
I was down to 15 today, and even one of them wasn't there... another said they would be stopping service for awhile... considering some of the meals, it is certainly understandable.
Nothing major this day, got a load of clothes in the dryer and that's about it.
Leann, I am going to put Omar in a trunk and secure it well... also will put in some purina and a gallon of room temperature water.

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Wicked cold again last night...

Coffee at McDonalds, the temp is again 24˚ and to me, that is just to freakin cold to get too involved with anything outside... I am off today, not delivering as it’s my day off. Sean called and we’ve got all the arrangements pretty much done for the Daytona trip. I will be flying into Charlotte he says and then we will fly out to Daytona from there... how neat is that? I will get to see the kids hopefully, probably at the airport but I don’t care...
After talking to Sean, I booked a room for 5 days at the El Caribe hotel, it lies on the Ocean.  Not too bad a price, about $1,100 bucks and we will do a sneaky pete on the room.
I talked to Nick a few moments ago and told him to check with Sean about a quickie visit at the Airport during my layover.  I hope he does, it wouldn't seem right to not see him too.

Monday, January 19, 2009

Bundle up, she's chilly out there.

I made zucchini bread yesterday and this morning I sliced a bunch up and took to McDonalds to share with the coffee group.  Everyone seemed to like it and I didn't bring any back home... It's good to share.
Cold again this morning but clear and beautiful too.  I would much prefer the cold to the damp and gray.
Today is Martin Luther King day so most services will be closed and perhaps it would be a great time to reflect on the impact he had on the world.  As the events tomorrow will attest, we've come a long way baby...

Sunday, January 18, 2009

Brrrrrrrrrrrr. Baby it's COLD !!!

24˚ this morning... frost on the pumpkin would be an understatement.  Absolute blue sky and what appears to be a beautiful day... bundle up though and for sure don't put your tongue on a flag pole...
Later on I will be going out to Jefferson to visit my ex-neighbor, Clynton.  I sure miss his family living across the street.  Great people.
A little update, I just finished whipping up a batch of zucchini bread and put it into 2 breadpans.  It looks good and by golly I think it will be delicious too.
I am getting to be quite the little house bitch ain't I??
Update:  I decided this afternoon to take the Mini for a drive and go see my ex-neighbor, Clynton.  He has a nice place in Jefferson and after I got there I realized that I had been by it many times when driving a core truck for Bennie Graves... small world.
It was just a gorgeous day for a drive, I had some really neat classical music on the stereo and was just cruising and enjoying the scenery... Leann you would have appreciated today...

Yesterday is gone... nothing lost

Nothing really worth posting yesterday so I decided to just let it slide...
Today I was up a little later then had coffee at McDonalds.  After coffee, I came back home to take care of a few things and then headed down to AppleTree's to have breakfast with a friend.
We enjoyed our breakfast and had some great conversation.  It's sometimes amazing how different subjects come up and solutions seem so easy from one side of the table to the other.
We spent about an hour and a half chatting and enjoying our meal.  After that, we went our own ways, I came home and after sitting in the house and looking at the clear blue skies, decided to wash the mini... it looks a lot better.  I might wax it tomorrow, depending on the weather.
Nothing special going on this evening, I am showered and changed and thinking about dinner.  I've decided that I will make some zucchini bread tomorrow... this time I will use the larger bread loaf pans I think.
I hope you are all having a great Saturday and perhaps a leisurely Sunday will also be in your plans.
Leann, sorry to hear of your 'soreness', but it simply means that you are putting the right amount of effort out to eventually see significant results... You Go Girl !!!
Cathy... where be you girl???

Thursday, January 15, 2009

Just another day...

Coffee this morning then deliveries... ho hummm.
Do you hate paying insurance bills as much as I do... damn.  I had to pay landlord insurance on the house my Mom's second husband still lives in... which in itself wouldn't be so bad if I even liked him.
Oh well, I suppose that in honoring her request I need to be tolerant... still hate insurance though.
It's done for another year... God willing I will be able to sell it before it's due again.

Fog rules...

Quiet morning, coffee with the group then off to Julies church to pick up Ralphy for a day visit.  He is amazingly spry for an old dog...
Stopped at McDonalds and bought him a sausage biscuit then we came home and I gave it to him.  I cleaned up the kitchen and fixed some hot chocolate and a sourdough english muffin for breakfast.
Ralphy is sleeping now, seems that he does that a lot more, indicative of his age I'm sure.
Nothing special planned for today, Julie will pick Ralphy up about 5pm.
Cathy, thanks for the humorous jokes you sent, really made my day... Hope you are making progress on getting your system up and running.

Truly, what DO Weathermen actually know???

I'm amazed at times by the forecasts that are put forth by those working for the weather bureau... Oft I wonder, do they work in really dark little rooms with absolutely no connection to the outside world... staring intently at a green hued monitor trying to decipher the displayed statistics and later convert that information into something understandable by the rest of us???
It truly challenges my imagination when I hear them say things like 10% chance of rain today and I am standing at my front window and staring into a virtual downpour of rain... Works the same with sunshine predictions too.
If they would just use a coin toss to predict the weather, the odds of them being right would improve dramatically.
Yesterday they said that we would have beautiful weather the remainder of the week... overnight, weather armageddon struck and they predicted that we would have nothing but solid fog for the next 6 days... I am looking out my window at some beautiful blue sky... Go figure.
Leann, where are you hiding??

Odd weather today, beautiful for a short time then "Fog".

After the usual coffee clatch this morning,  I went to deliver my meals and had 3 no shoes today... after returning to the Senior center, I was off to the credit union to cash a check and ask some questions about 'Bill Pay'.
Pretty much I've decided to give it a try for a month or so but my gut feeling is that I will probably cancel the service... we will see
I couldn't believe the weather... on the way to coffee it was cloudy but you could see pretty good, during coffee, the stupid fog rolled in... about the time I finished deliveries, the sun was out and blue sky was everywhere...
After being home for about 2 hours, the fog rolled back in...
Weird winter so far, we can only hope that it won't last too much longer.

Just thought I would stop by and say Hi.

Nothing special today, lazing around and thinking of peaceful places I would rather be...
Hope your day is grand and good things happen for you.

Just another day... no snow ~ yet...

Well, this morning I awoke at 3am for no particular reason then fell back to sleep and got up about 6:40 and headed down to McDonald's for my habitual coffee time.
Afterwards, I came home, cleaned up the kitchen stripped the bed, started some Oatmeal and hot chocolate.
The plan for the day is laundry and perhaps dusting the bedroom furniture.  It is a dismal day, overcast but not yet raining.  I would almost pay for a peek at the sun... then I would bitch about it if it stayed too long...
I received a really nice candy thermometer from my Sis and bro in law as a birthday/christmas gift.  Nicest one I've ever seen for sure.
Also received a super nice birthday card from my sister.  Both my daughter and youngest son have offered up birthday greetings, but Sean is conspicuously absent in this event... perhaps he will call today.
Upon reflecting, I must again recommend to all of you to see 'Gran Torino' this is truly a moving work and one of Eastwoods best.
Be good today, unless you wish to misbehave and if you do choose the latter I hope it makes you happy...

Fog?? where...

Foggy this morning, foggy delivering meals, clear going to Albany, foggy coming home...
Nice day, but the evening was to say the least, extraordinarily wonderful.  The movie, 'Gran Torino' was exceptional and most certainly should get an Oscar and the Actor with the Oscar should be Clint Eastwood.
Dinner with Melissa was wonderful both meal wise and conversation wise.  We've been so very long in reaching this plateau.  I love her.
Hope your day was even half as good as mine.

One more day to go...

Wet and windy... and now foggy.  Got all my stuff done and my questions answered so I feel good about the day.
I've not much planned for the day, I may dust the bedroom but everything else is pretty much ok.
I will meet up with Melissa tomorrow evening in Albany at AppleBees restaurant and she is buying me dinner for my birthday... It should be a good time and I look forward to it.

Wells Frago, here I come...

Man oh man has Philomath changed since the last time I was over there... I cannot believe how they changed the traffic pattern thru the downtown area.
Left Lebanon about 10am and headed West to P-town and got to the bank about 10:50.  The 'Banker' named Julie helped set up the account and explained all the options etc...
Melissa came in about 5 minutes after I arrived and in the mean time all the ladies at the bank told me how much they like her... That makes a dad pretty proud to know that his offspring is well thought of.
On the way home, I stopped at Emmons Meat market and dropped $30 on some salmon and buffalo jerky.
They are freakin expensive but I rarely stop there so this was ok.

A little damp but Tuesday still..

Nothing very exciting happening today.  Did the coffee thing and the meals deliveries, but nothing stands out as exciting today.
The weather was quite 'un-winter-like' today... much warmer than one would have expected.
After deliveries, I stopped at LinnCo to talk to Molly about the odd behavior of the 24/7 click website yesterday.  She made a few phone calls and found out that there were system 'difficulties' yesterday and that they had to do a system restore...
Hi Cathy, Hi Leann and of course....Hi Omar.!!!
What a day, I hope something good happens today.
The new picture is awesome!! amazingly, there will very soon be a new resident and with him we rest our hopes of 'change' and hopefully a resuscitation of the grandeur that once was the U.S.A.
Good Luck President Obama, I for one will be praying for your success.

Another week beginning..

It was warmer this morning, but the rain was constant.
Went to coffee and enjoyed that then off to take care of the needy by delivering my meals.
I stopped when done at LinnCo and talked to Karen to let her know that the unique identifier field still lacks cursor focus but the other two work correctly.  Also when viewing account activity, your entire account number is displayed which is a security issue.  She knows and will re-address the issue.
Then I stopped at Roths and bought an onion to put in the ham and navy bean soup.  It sure does smell good.

Was there a yesterday???

I apologize for not posting yesterday, the day was mostly spent reading and listening to music and a little TV.  I did get on the computer but never ever thought too much about posting as the day was slow and I was even slower.
Melissa brought her new beau by about 6:30pm and visited for awhile.
His name is Ermine and he is a couple years younger than Melissa is.  The lad seems to have a nice manner about him and has his head on straight.  He tends to be quiet spoken but at the same time well spoken.
He is attending W.O.U and is pursuing a liberal arts degree... he is a good dancer (theatrical) and Melissa tells me a good photographer also.
After they left, the evening drug on for about 3 days then I went to bed...
Today is yet another day of cold weather (25˚) this morning and now it is socked in with fog.  The roads were dry but slick in places this morning on the way to coffee.
After coffee I stopped and got the beans to make Ham and beans for tomorrow.  I will soak them overnight and start boiling the ham bone tomorrow morning.  It should be good, I will add a rue to it so that it will have a gravy.  I also got some cornbread mix for some biscuits.
Anyone hungry yet???

Wind and rain and wind...

Early this morning along about 4am or so, the wind and rain was so severe on the side of the house my bedroom is on, I truly thought that it had ripped the siding loose and was rattling it around.  Honestly, I thought when I got up that I would see it lying on the carport.
Lucky for me though, it was just a very violent session of wind and rain and no damage was done.
Coffee at McDonalds and then off for the daily meal deliveries... I had 17 clients, two dropped off and one returned.
On the way back home, I stopped in at Stutzman stove and got a quote for the installation of a free standing gas stove (heater).  It is something I have considered for some time and never bothered to price out.
If I should choose to do it, it will have to wait for quite awhile as the expense is more than I could bear for the time being.
No news from my blog friends, makes me wonder if they are on strike...
Everyone enjoy the weekend and keep an upbeat attitude.
